Hey all I'm just posting to let everyone know I'm a first time owner of a 90 integra. Well were to begin I guess i can go ahead and say stole the car for $500, it has 220k on the odometer started and ran first try with charged battery lol. The bf/gf couple I bought it from has no idea of what they had the girl drove the car for a long time had it serviced regularly as far as I can tell. As for cosmetics, well its not in the best of shape, crunched passenger fender and a good dent in the driver door due to someones anger problem so it seems. Other then that it needs the usual , bushings brakes ect. but those can come with time none of them are to bad. Anyway on to the "build" so far Ive purchased a ram air intake. due to the fact I live on a rough gravel road with its fair share of water puddles, therefore a cold air would prob hurt me more then help me. Second I've purchased a new distributor, the one in it is factory 220k it had a weird plastic grinding sound like a vibration that only occurred every 10 - 30 second so I took off the cap and checked for any lose parts and sure enough I grab the rotor button and it had a lot of play in it the button itself is tight just the shaft it mounts to is lose so i found a distributor for $109 online . $207 for the same thing at O'Rielly. The only other issue I'm having is there's a tick that started the second day I had the car. I drove the car home and YES I got on it close to home to make sure it wasn't gonna blow on me while I'm driving down the interstate to school. I got home checked everything out then started cleaning removed the seats ect. Then i drove it again got on it a little but not to hard, came back and parked it , note everything sounded fine when i parked it. The next day I get up and go out and start the car and there is the tick, so I'm obviously like wtf it didn't do this yesterday at all, I drive it and it still ticks but not like a valve tick it speeds up with RPM's but not exact it seems it just gets louder not faster. So i been reading and hearing people having this problem with injectors and I'm sure that's my problem because if I try to pin point the tick by sound it seems to be in the back on the passenger corner and its not coming from the valve cover. One reason that makes me so sure is the car hasn't been registered since 2008! Therefore it hasn't been on the road. So I'm sure the previous owners didn't think to put some fuel stabilizer or anything in the fuel. So after a day or so of researching and reading, I decided to try some Sea Foam, First I ran some through the vacuum lines and it helped quieten the tick, at the time I purchased the Sea Foam I also got 5 gal of 93 no ethanol and threw that in the gas tank. I've only started and ran the car maybe 30 minutes since that and it seems the tick keeps getting less noticeable. So as for my question does my theory sound logical and I know some will say check valve lashings and trust me that's my next step, I just don't wanna mess with it unless I have to. Any feed back is appreciated.
