SO I JUST GOT DONE INSTALLING SOME CAMS I PICKED UP A WHILE AGO FOR MY GSR. THERE OBX CAMS. SO I GOT EVERYTHING DONE AND IM ON MY WAY DOWN THE ROAD TO TRY EM OUT THE IDLE IS GREAT AND IT RUNS SO STRONG TILL IT GETS TO V TECH THEN IT STARTS POPING AND STUDDERING TILL IT GETS TO ABOUT 5100 RPMS THEN IT COMES ALIVE! DO YOU THINK I NEED TO PUT A SUPER AFC 2 ON IT AND PULL SOME FUEL OR ADD SOME FUEL. PLEASE LET ME NO IF YOU HAVE HAD ANY SIMILAR PROBLEMS....... THANK YOU!:headbang:

It's because your VTEC activation point is set too low for the new cams. You need to achieve a faster intake airflow velocity before you have VTEC activate. You need a tuning system to fix that, and a dyno session to find the right RPM for VTEC, and to adjust the a/f as needed, ect ect. Have you done any tuning at all?

do you think this is something that is obtainable with a v-superafc. it is supposed to be able to change vtech ingagement points and air fuel. i just put in a air fuel gauge so i can see where shes at. any ideas on where a good rpm for vtech to start would be or is that all depend on the cams?

vtec*. no H.

I've never heard of the v-superafc, but it might be able to adjust it. IMO your best bet would be to find/get a chipped ECU and go to your tuner and get the car tuned by someone that knows what they're doing instead of asking us online what to do for your car.

That way you have a professional doing what needs to be done.

my bad still new to the hole honda scene.... ill get it right give me time just got out of the vw scene had a 387 whp gti was fun but hondas are cheeper lol ... well i put a regular s-afc2 on it and pulled some fuel from the v-tec engagement point and it seemed to clear up alot of the problem, but i think hes right about moving the v-tec point of engagement cause it seems to come back alive around 5100 rpms so im gonna go back to the stock settings tonight and try the v-tec version of this apexi tuner ill let ya no how it goes. i did also have to advance the timing a lil bit to clear it up is that normal for these motors with aftermarket cams?

I've had personal experience with the problem you have, same thing happened to my engine during the brief time I had aftermarket cams installed and didn't do any tuning. Then I got my ECU chipped and dyno tuned, turned out having VTEC at 5000 worked best for my setup.

the right vtec point is when the intake and exhaust cams dyno charts cross. you should chip

so i put the vafc on it and bumped the vtec up to 5100 and wow what a difference. had to pull some fuel here and there to keep it in the stoich area on my air fuel gauge but other then that its all good. what a power gain! i had to advance the timing quite a bit is that typical when putting in aftermarket cams?:woot:
