Need Help Finding A Clutch

Prozon

Kris
I really don't know anything about buying clutches.

I have been told over and over and over that I need to upgrade my clutch when I boost my DA, well the engine is being built, and the transmission is being rebuilt, what better time to put in a clutch?

Except I really don't know what I need.
When I do boost it i'm expected to make around 230hp. However I want to have a clutch that will be able to handle any upgrades, because later down the road I do want to upgrade internals and run more boost. (300+ hp.)

But looking at various clutch sites it really makes no sense to me.
Can anyone help me track down the clutch I should be using for my application?

Clutches are rated by torque, you need to determine how much you think you're going to make and get a clutch rated about 50-100 over that.

IMO- www.gripforce.com
f1 stage 3 6puck and f1 light weight flywheel. 260$ shipped. I have 10k mikes on my setup since may, and I haven't had a single problem. Just make sure you get a oem Honda throwout bearing and pilot bearing.

F1 racing is NOT an eBay brand either.

This clutch feels just as good as my 920$ setup I had on my 300zx. Except the preassure plate isn't as stiff- so clutch pedal feels pretty close to stock :)

I am aware it's rated to torque. However, I have no idea how much torque I will be making, so I through out the numbers hoping somebody would chime in to a good clutch for it.

(Not to mention some sites won't even tell me what they are rated to, simply that they are "Street Clutches" or "Racing Clutches" or something along those lines.

Thanks Rich, I think that clutch may actually be perfect. And it won't break the bank! ! !

You can also google more info on f1 racing clutches. Very low failure rate.

Make sure that you install everything and torque it down properly and follow the break in instructions that come with the clutch. And then re-adjust the clutch afterwards!!!

Not a problem dude :)

FYI- if you call them and order on the phone you'll get a better price than the web :)

I have a Stage 2 Competition Clutch and a Forged Lightweight 12lb Flywheel. They are quite nice. Perhaps with your setup, you should go stage 3, with a puck disc? Not really sure on clutches either.. lol

Stage 3 is what I was planning to get.
I posted the link above.

Honestly I don't care about pedal feel and all that, i'll get used to it either way. I just want to make sure I don't kill my clutch with the turbo. And my tuner suggests upgrading the clutch before the tune so we don't have any problems there.

Rebuilding transmission before the tune too, hope all goes well. Just need a pile of cash to get going.

The new clutch and rebuilt engine/transmission will all be ran 2,000 miles or so before the turbo goes on.
