My speakers suck. Questions on replacing them.

No, he's right. Changing the speakers will make the biggest difference to sound quality.

For best sound quality, just remove the rear speakers. The more speakers you have, the more you divide the power between each speaker, and the more sound cancellation you get.

If you're going to get components then I suggest you let a professional install them.

Don't blow your money on some high dollar speakers. You'll never know the difference between crazy high end speakers and speakers that are just "good. Infinity, Alpine, and Kicker are all great speakers that are reasonably priced. If you want to drop some money, spend it on your home audio. The home environment actually allows you to experience the sound quality you're paying for.

If you want speakers that sound good without an amp, look for a high sensitivity rating. Infinity makes 2 ohm speakers with high sensitivity that sound good w/out an amp. Alpine speakers IMO really only wake up with an amp.
I agree with most of this.... higher end speakers wouldn't yield a huge difference without amp/deadning and the whole 9 for the most part.

I feel Boston's won't wake up without an amp. Infinity's do well without one, Alpines I think are fine without one. +1 on a pro installing components.

As far as splitting power, only if you're amping them. Other than that most if not all a/m heads have dedicated channels for each speaker, period.. and you cannot bridge speakers with just a cd player so that won't make any difference..

Our cars are great for adding just a 4 channel, amping the front stage and bridging the two rear channels for a small 10" or so in the hatch. does wonders for not much money
