My Jetta VR6 Thread....

Separated wastegate downpipe > bellmouth downpipe. Only if it merges with the exhaust stream though. Open wastegate sounds like ass.
Not really on the Subaru's. Bellmoulths typically make more if not equal power on Subaru's.

It's not just Subaru's, it's the same way on every car. The exhaust coming out of the turbine and wastegate is very hot and rapidly expanding. A bellmouth downpipe is essentially a bottleneck. It's narrowing down just after the turbine when the most expansion is taking place. A divorced wastegate downpipe will always make more power as long as both pipes are properly sized and designed. The exhaust needs to flow about 18" before merging to make maximum use of the 2 different pipes and gas expansion and needs to merge smoothly. It's a much better design than bottlenecking the downpipe directly after the turbine and wastegate.

Anyway, sorry for the threadjack

So far no one has showed any gains from it on Subaru's. But then again there isnt a single manufacture that has the divorced tube run any longer than 6in (unless a dump). But then again, anytime a Subaru has power levels large enough to show a reasonable gain from a divorced WG they are running externals and dump tubes.

So the bellmouths for a Subaru work better because the dump tubes end up causing more turbulence when the re-enter than they are supposed to stop at the turbo. And when your actually pushing enough power to see any noticeable gains your running a External WG. At least that how the Subaru community goes.

Yeah they are. The VR6 engine is one of the best sounding motors IMO, the Intake roar is so effing loud...... And when I have my exhaust cutout open, it sounds amazing.

It's fine, I like learning stuff. But as speedin said, usually for Subarus the bellmouth works better. I have been a member in a WRX forum for like a year researching all sorts of stuff. (I was planning on getting a BugEye rex too)

/threadjacking myself lol

Okay so heres the Update....... I already revamped my intake system; but I still need to get an extender piece to put my filter more towards the front of the car, so I can fabricate a better heatsheild and seal it from the rest of the engine bay. The VR6 is probably one of the hottest Intake temperture cars out there..... The Intake Manifold runs OVER the frigen motor, so all that heat just sits in between baking the intake mani....... So getting the coldest air possible is a necessity.

Also I painted my rear tow hook red. I just used the same paint I used to paint my brake calipers red.

And I gutted my sound deadening from under the hood so I can hear that awesome Intake roar better lol

And I vented my hood by taking the rubber seal off. If you check out the pics, you can see from the front of the hood to the back, and you can see in the engine bay from the back of the hood. Yay!

Ok. herse the latest update! With pics!

I put a cool EuroTuner "sticker" on the front window (printed on paper LOL)

Also, you can see that I relocated my shiftlight to right in the middle. (middle of the left side) So it's easier to see. And I have my Sunpro tachometer since my stock gauges sometimes don't work. (yes, I said sometimes)

And a Neuspeed "sticker" on both sides.

I've already gotten hella looks at my car since it's got one headlight ROFL. Well, that and plus I have my exhaust cutout open and I was testing out my new 7200 rpm redline. :D

I think you could of found a better place for your brake cooling duct, even headlight tube for that matter. I see a blank plate that looks like a spot under your turn signal that would be prime for a hole ;)

Fo sho. I can't put it tehre because VW put the A/C canister thing and TWO Horns there. :cussing: And it's not a brake cooling duct. (The tube at the bottom, in the front lip) It's a ram air tube for my intake, for when I put my headlight in.

I just recently ripped 1 horn out of the side vent and I have the ram-air tube in there now, so I need to buy a new front lip that doesn't have a huge hole in it :wak:

Oh and Yes, I do need to wash it. Yesterday, when we was working on my bro's Integ, I was like, "Damn, I should have washed my car BEFORE I took out my headlight hahaha."

Heres the latest "update" on my Jetta.....

I "found" this carbon fiber antenna for really cheap and painted it black (masked off the CF) so it looked better.

Also, my FuelPressureRegulator vacuum lines broke, so I temporarily used some boost lines from my brothers turbokit.

And because of the faulty FPR, and my MAF or TB might be bad, I have this to thank......
