my puppy had proper shots i was told young pups are still like 50% vulnerable but i do agree people dont realize how easy it is to pick it up and its bad around my area this past year vet said its the worst they have seen in awhile
No. I don't think it's that high. Parvo is actually quite common without any shots.
I worked for pet stores for about 4 years.

Everytime I would hear about a dog having parvo, it would be because of not having the proper shots. I guess that's just from my own experience first hand.

Vaccines introduce parvo to a dog, so even if they did get parvo after a vaccine, they would be more immune to it than a dog without it because they would have already built a resistance by being introduced to it.

s*** sux ive lost a rat terrier puppy to parvo and almost lost another dog. i spent long nite nursing both dogs with meds and gatorade. i was able to save my bospin shes a mix of boston terrier and min pin but shes also a bigger toy dog compared to the baby rat terrier. s***s ruff and its horrible watching them suffer. ill warn you now in case they havent parvo can and will live in your yard and house for atleast a year after contact with your animal. so bleach bleach bleach and make sure to give parvo shots if you get anymore animals. this is why i lost my rat terrier puppy cause i didnt know after a few months had gone by of my other dog getting it that it was still living in my yard. srry for your lose

i'm sorry about your puppy, OP. =( you'll definitely want to bleach everything like someone above said, especially if you have other pets or plan to in the future. you can track it in on your shoes from pet stores, parks, and pretty much anywhere.

parvo is no joke. even a vaccinated dog with its full series of shots can catch it, although, most time, it will not be as severe as a puppy without it's full series of shots.

again, sorry for your loss. =/ that's a terrible thing to happen.
thanks guys ); i had no clue about this disease..I've read so much about it, i just wish i knew the info then before it was to late....

i will DEFINITELY wash the carpets, mop with bleach. i already thru out all the play toys and beds, baby blankets. just gotta hope and pray for my other dogs and do my best to keep them clean from this horrible disease

It's all a learning experience for you. Sorry for your loss.

Get those puppy shots at 2 months of age and for the next two months. There's a series of shots they need 3 months in a row.

6 months for rabies, 1 year from then, then every two years.

Did you give it it's proper shots? It shouldn't have died from Parvo if he had his proper vaccines.
Just by walking your dog, it's a risk.

I feel like slapping people when they walk their 2 month old without any shots. Or carry around puppies that are a couple weeks old because they think they're cute.
the vet guy emptied my bank card. I can give you the list of vaccines if you want, would you know which one wouldve prevented it? its a big list of shots. i wanted to get her license but she had to get spayed in order to get...i was broke after the shots.

They have strange names. I'm sure you can google it.
Some clinics to specials on certain days when they have no charge to drop by and get the shots.
The first shot is the one that has to be repeated 3 months I think. 1x a month.
Usually they're like $20-35 given with a worm pill on those special days.

The vet visit is what they charge for. Most places charge like $100 to stop by and extra for _________.

If you can do it yourself, the shot is like $15. All you do in pinch the skin and inject on their back / right below the neck area.

Rabies has to be done by a Vet because you need the paperwork to prove it has been done.

just got back from the vet and I had the parvo test done to my other dog. he's infected also. I'm flat broke and he's at the vet getting the treatment done, they say its a chance that he will make it since I took him in time

at least the vet kep your dog for treatment my vet wouldn't they sent both my dogs home both times it happened to me i had keep the dog locked in the bathroom while i nursed her Gatorade every hour but if its an older dog they have alot better chance of making it. its like the chicken pox for dogs either they get it young or never get it at all and once they get it they wont get it again.
