I think it has something to do with fluid buildup on the pipes below the wrap starts to crack the pipes. I've always heard that if you wrap it tight enough, you don't have to worry about it.

i plan on getting it dyno tuned either saturday or sunday

sure you can ask, but i wouldn't be able to tell you because i have tokico shocks. they ride good though.
