I just spent $120 for a shop to tell me my ICU and rear defroster switch is bad, WHICH I ALREADY KNEW and nothing was even fixed. Now I have to order an aftermarket ICU from Honda since it's discontinued and a new switch. I am angry.

well some of you might be happy to see this but im seriously considering doing a manual swap. the auto tranny i have now works (to an extent - it grinds in reverse and i can't for the life of me figure out why) but if i think about it, it could cost the same, if not more, to get it rebuilt or buy a completely new tranny. what to do?!?! it would take me forever to find all the parts i need and i would need someone to install it all for me...hmmm

you really dont need that much for a cable tranny swap, just shift linkage, tranny, ecu, pedal assembly, and the cable (and the tranny mount I think). It's not like a hydro conversion where you have to get all the hydro parts and auto to hydro mounting stuffs

cool eh? lol. my icu and rear defrost button are in the mail, waiting on those. going to a couple tranny shops on friday to get a free diagnosis so i can finally figure out why it grinds in reverse. i'll make my decision on the swap once i figure out how pricey this problem will be lol. thats all for now!

also, boo to winter tires and steelies

Just came back from AAMCO. They said my tranny has an internal problem, the reverse gear doesn't engage properly. Long story short, it would be $1250 + tax for a rebuild. Now my question is....is it worth it to get a brand new auto tranny? Or spend that money on doing a swap? Keep in mind this is my DD and I don't know how to drive stick, but I can learn anyway.
