Looking for a new project

I posted about this in my build thread but I figured it may be worth a new thread in the forced induction secton.

I want to get a 2 door for a project car and I'm thinking I'll go with a turbo setup so I'm trying to decide whether it's worth spending the extra on a gsr or save a little bit of money and get a b18b1 since I'm going to turbo it anyway. My power goal is somewhere in the 250-300 range.

At the moment I'm leaning towards saving the money on the purchase and going with an ls/rs/gs but I thought I'd ask for suggestions/comments.

(yes I have done a lot of reading about turbo setups in the past couple weeks, I'm just asking for opinions)

I'd just go with an ls because they're cheaper and like you said, you're boosting it anyways. vtec doesn't even matter anymore at that point.

That was my first thought also, I just wanted some opinions. Also based on my research the power goal I have (250-300) would not call for forged internals but is it worth the money to go that route anyway?

You should do forged internals IMO, do it right the first time. LS isn't a bad choice and will probably be more cost effective. Add some fuel and ignition to the above and S300 and you'll be good to go

That's kind of what I was thinking, plus I guess that leaves the option to up the boost when it starts feeling slow lol

I definitely want this to be an extra car though, not the dd. I'll probably strip out a lot of the interior too

A GSR is a much better starting point than a LS. Especially if you plan to build this platform up over the next few years.

Lots of people are making 300 on stock internals. As long as its tuned then its safe. Start small and keep it simple for your first turbo setup.

And dont go overboard on the turbo. Remember psi means nothing, its relative.
