I have a 95 GSR and mine kicks around 6k. Soooo if anything redline 2nd and wait to hear vtec kick in!actually so far i haven't heard it.. drove to 5k rpm(lots of power).. and haven't heard it kick in big. but either it's not really noticeable, or something's wrong with my car :shock: i tried revving it to 6k to see if theres a limiter but didn't notice any limits (someone told me if the car has vtec you can't rev past the engaging point?)
lmao redlining is the last thing i want to do since i barely have shifting down. is there a way to set it to kick in earlier? like around 5k?
Nothing wrong with redlining. Just shift at 7k and youll be fine. There is a rev limiter on the car that wont let you rev to high and damage anything. Hell I bounce the limiter in my manual accord every once in awhile just to clean it out. Now if your new to shifting I would be EXTRA careful on downshifts, if you go into to low of a gear you can kiss your valves good bye!
Oh okay, good to know. Usually I don't down shift much.. mostly just put it in neutral and let it roll, but if i do.. I read about the max speed on each gear so I'll know where to shift.
Actually you're right, getting into first is most hardest.. after that it's much easier. My dad was telling me to just bounce the RPM up to like 2k and back a few times so you get a feel of how much power to give it while you're getting into first. (from a stop of course) Kind of works for me.. but I just end up revving the car to like 4k when I start to fully release the clutch for some reason and then it turns into me flooring the car down the street
