Is the Integra the right track car for me?

A friend of mine used function & form, type 1 I believe. They are around 700-800. He had no complaints. Some say they get out of adjustment easily but idk how true that is he ran his for about a year with no issues. He wrecked it last winter on some black ice and they were still set up right.

I ended up buying the Mono Flex's. I will get these dynoed and will figure out the right springs. For now I decided to build a motor that should make good power and last. Does anyone know how much torque the Type R transmission holds up to? What is the reliability power limit for that transmission on a road course?

Integra's can be really good for lap racing, not for drag. For the reason being that you need to invest quiet some cash for it to be running mid 13's. I would recommend if you have enough cash invest in a acura integra type r, a bit hard to find but you can find one. Or you can also just find yourself a clean gsr that you can work on. Just make sure it has vtec. An LS would not be too bad either. You can do turbo or LS/VTEC swap. An old acquaintance of mine had a full stripped civic with an LS B18 motor, gsr tranny, aftermarket intake maifold, and throttle body, intake, full racing headers, running on open exhaust, cammed, chipped ecu, and on slicks and it was running low 13's.

I would just say find yourself a good running gsr. You can always upgrade the valve train. You can strip the car and get carbon fiber exterior parts, but, I do not think you can lower the weight down below 2,000 lbs. And muscle cars are just in another level, another tier per se. A lot of investment if you wish to keep up with gas guzzlers. Not impossible tho, but money can make a lot of things possible. Good luck on your decision, and make it wise.

Just get a Miata
Had 4 Miata's over the years. All Turboed. Last one was faster then my Z06 in the straight line and cost a bit more then one as well. No more Miata's for me or wife.. Just want a FWD toy for her.

Thanks for the advice, hard to keep it wise when spending $20k+ on a $2k car. LOL. Too late to get the Type R. So the car is already bought and stripped down to nothing ( I ended up with the 4 Door) . The engine is already built up (top to bottom) and I have 2 turbo kits sitting in the garage to choose from and the fuel system is ready to go as well with a small 8 gallon cell. I have the WI sorted out and ready to go in once the car is painted. I ended up going with the 3 inch downpipe and exhaust. I'm just not sure which turbo to go with yet. The 2 I have are way too big for what I am looking for. I may end up using an GT30 series turbo on this car. I'm not going after instant spool, just want to find the right combination for what I want at th right price. I just go the AEM EMS last week, wheels brakes and tires are in as well as the shocks. The cage is going to get built next week, paint as well as lexan. The shocks are going to the dyno this Monday. Right now the car is at 1650LBS+ with everything gutted. Once the cage is in as well as the Turbo, I'm expecting to to be under 2000. The motor I have built for this car should handle more power then I would want to make. I just dont know what the limits of the type R transmission are.

Says who? The same can be said for any car that originally runs 15+. Im sure that civic took quite a bit to get there seeing as he built a LS , then again stripped and on slicks does quite the trick.

As for the thread question, there are a ton of people who road race the integra and for reasons beyond 'its just what they had'. Sounds like you mean to put in some hefty power. Good to have but focus on handling if you are road racing.

I chose to go with the Acura because its a cool Honda and I built a couple of them for my wife to race Dirt Track. Very restrictive rules and not much modifications allowed. Always wanted to build one with no restrictions and as much power as I wanted that would go on road course. Light weight, tons of tire and power is the key! So right now the wife has no car to take to road course unless its her CTS-V. Those cars dont hold up very well to being driven hard and make much better street cars then track rats. The car below in the picture is our full time road course play car. Its tot like you can let any friend hop into this thing and just drive it for fun! If you want them and your car to live!

Wait up, you own Dale Earnhardts old Monte Carlo.
Not his original car, its not cost effective to have one of those for track days they are too collectible and cost too much money just for the history. This is an old Bush car. Not as much HP (around 700) and its 5 inches shorter then the cup car. So it turns left and right! Made to look like Earnhard car. Still fun! It is a blast to bring this thing to a Miata or something similar track day pre-registered as a 97 Chevy Montecarlo then firing this thing off in the trailer while half the people run over to see what just happened.
