is it my car or does ls have bad gas mileage?

yes i'm wondering with other ls drivers if they are getting bad gas mileage i for sure do, i only get about 200-250 miles a full tank so if any of you guys know if there is a problem please help me out.

it really has a big part on how you drive, if you redline like every gear your going to use a lot more gas then granny shifting, other thing is if you havent changed the fuel filter in forever take a look at that, i changed mine and got like 5 more mpg

Yep, it is all in the driving and what kind of mileage you're putting in, i.e. city/highway. I'm getting 270-310 miles per tank. Try a tune up, check tire psi too, because if you're hitting 200, that sounds way too low for even spirited driving; unless ur redlining it every time.

i get rea;;y shitty mileage too, but i have an idle problem, after i fix that it will be back to normal. i need to clean out my fast idle thermo valve really bad, and then i will be fine, im running too rich... but try a tune up and change the fuel filter for sure... also make sure that your exhaust doesnt reek of gas like mine does, easiest way to tell if your running rich.

yeah i hardly ever redline it, i always shift at 3k or under.

ill check out my fuel filter and see if something wrong, i do smell gas from my exhaust so i'm going to get that check out to

maybe check your air filter too? you definitely should be getting alot better mpg

i have a '00 ls with a custom 3'' intake with a k&n and yet i barely get 220-230, and i have a 24 mile highway and roughly 7-8 mile stop n go with alot of hills, drive, and yea i might get up into the 5-6k range once or twice a tank but i wouldnt think thats the problem

i just bought a fuel filter today and i'm going to see if it will fix the problem if not then i might just get a tune up

yeah just change the filters then do a tank or two and see if anything changes...
