No, a Supercharger isn't feasible for $800 either. For $800, you could do a basic Intake, Header, and Exhaust which would take you from your 140 or so HP to 150 or so.

LS/VTEC builds cost between $1200 and $2000 ballpark. They're also much more complex and if done less than properly, will compermise the reliability of your engine. Tracking down parts may also be a hassle.

Even then. A basic LS/VTEC build will grant you between 160 and 170 HP. Horsepower isn't what people think it is because of magazines, TV shows and K&N Air FIlter Commercials. It actually requires quite a bit to harvest significant power gains out of an engine.

well i have a good friend who's very knowledgeable about the engines and is willing to help me put this thing together so a mechanic is not the problem... its finding the things i need.. I'm sure I can get the head 4 300-500 bucks but dont you need to get it tuned n all that jazz?

You have a loottttt of research to do. It takes a lot more than a head and a tune to build an LS/VTEC motor. It's not just some thing that you and your buddy do when you have a spare afternoon, and you drive away that night to enjoy your new 170hp. The parts list is quite extensive and the procedure should be done by someone or some shop who really know what they're doing with this style of motor. Like I mentioned earlier, a poor job of building an LS/VTEC engine will result in problems and sacrificed reliability.

This is the best guide available in my opinion for building an LS/VTEC motor. Take note of the parts list..

Expect to spend around $1500 on it, if you want it done right. I'd suggest saving up even a little more before diving in.

dude...for 800 u can maybe get to 150-160 at best with some bolt ons and even that is a stretch.. the best ur gonna be able to do is Just put an intake, headers, and exhaust and tell ur pops its 300 hp. No one is gonna show you how to get 300hp with an auto and 800 dollars cuz its not possible. If you get that ebay kit which is 600 and you dont know how to install it then its probably gonna cost you more than the turbo kit to get it installed right. It's a really expensive hobby if you get parts worth bolting on. Keep saving and then just do everything right. You wont be sorry. I am almost possitive everyone here has been in your spot. wanting to make a lot of power with little money. but it takes time. save and you ll be good..good luck man!

This forum is not only here for us to answer your questions. There is a search option, and searching the forums saves everyone a lot of time. Which is why my post count is so low. 90% of the time I am on here I am reading posts and not making them. Once you have familiarity with your car and wrap your head around the logistics of what your plans are, then we can help you better.

I know people who threw in T26 or could be T28 and T3/T4 turbo on there automatic Integras boosting at 6PSI on stock internal that only give you 220 to 250whp. You can build a custom kit for like $800-$1,500 then you have to incld tuning/chip ECU, etc. For 300whp on a stock Automatic trans, say goodbuy to your trans unless you build up that trans and that = $$$$
