How to find a tune setting.

Chrome is what is used around here a lit but I won't run it. Too many bugs with that system. Have a lot of guys complaining about stupid issues here and there like lag starting. Are running real rich in the mornings then the next day would be fine. Usually the same thing and that from five different turbo honda guys here that are running it.

If it was the tune it would do it all the time. It wouldn't be a different points and times of the week. If it was the tune it would run rich every morning not just Wednesday and then be good Friday. That's not how it works. I'm just saying from what I have seen chrome is unstable. Fine for a small turbo like what he's wanting will be OK. But if he decides to go bigger and harder then hondata is what he needs.

Really now, my cousin had both his cars tuned on crome & they both ran fine 24/7.

Agreed Crome (no H!) is fine for most but there are known bugs with it and the support stinks.

However Id be willing to bet those guys are running open loop and nobody has tuned cold start or warm up enrishment. Weather differences will affect operating conditions. Due to lack of time with the car and the engine never cooling down, tuners rare touch these fuel trims.

Does your cousin have a wideband and is constantly recording data to confirm that its always consistent? Just because its not chugging doesn't mean it runs fine.

I'm not putting it down. There's just much more stability, reliability, and support with hondata than anything else.

Thanks for the help guys and I thought decision4life was the only one that lives close to me lol. My buddy has a hard time explaining things over text or phone I'm sure it would make more sense in person. Anyway I won't be boosting for a while I just like to know what to do and what my options are when I decide to do so.

So. I guess the general consensus here is buy a hondata s300, and go to Clinton highway and get a good tune once I boost. Lol. Is the ecu easy to chip or should I let the tuner do that?

It should be professionally done. Finding one used is the best option.

OK. Reason I asked is because I used to build computers for fun so I'm familiar with a soldering gun and circuit board.
