How many of you guys fix up your own cars?

Hi guys! I'm new to this world of JDM and fixing up cars, so I just want an estimate on the number of people who work on them by themselves opposed to the number of people who take them in.

Also, as a new guy, what do you suggest I do? My Integra is my daily driver and the only resource I can learn how to mod my own car is through youtube or friends. And youtube has very little on modding the real stuff.

Thanks!

I do my own work (sometimes with help of friends). If you are new to working on cars, start off with normal maintenance and reading forums and start to get familiar with the car.

Ive been known to work on my own Integra.
Best advice is to just read. Seek out technical forums and learn.
Download the factory service manual and dive in.

I usually work on it myself. Unless its a job I'm uncomfortable with, I'm lazy (ie: oil changes), or I'm too busy.

I do everything myself. I have a decent knowledge of things, but I still learn stuff every time I work on my car. It's also my daily driver.

Does popping the hood and kicking the tires count?

11 out of 10 times what you think is jdm is not. Start with basics and you'll learn you can do more than you think. Also being able to do something doesn't count if you don't do it right.

Fixed. Sounds more like you at times with your car anyway
Lol it does sound like me. I'm happy with it right now. Oil seems to be staying in it and I just got 30mpg driving the hell out of it.

I have done most the stuff myself with a friend but I haven't done engine work. I can do plugs and I could do a granny swap and stuff if i had the tools and space. It's going in the shop soon though. Couldn't get rear strut bolts off and pretty much comes down to tools and me being fed up atm. LOL
