how does 2nd generation manual shifter work

Knob(usually white) on the cable out by the mounting bracket. Turn it clockwise to loosen and counter clockwise to tighten. Could be the other way around but I think I'm right.

Go and follow the cable down to the tranny, you will see what he's talking about.

Granted. I couldnt remember if the cable was like that or backwards.

Yeah, generally that term applies. Lol... Don't recall if the cable is reverse threaded or not either..

i got it thanks. much better now maybe like 2 ta 4 cm of play before it kicks. thanks.

still have the idle problem. but im just guna replace the acv with one from a junk yard cant afford 250 for a new one.

you can also take the IACV off and blast it with some carb cleaner... often it is just years of built up gunk inside the thing that causes it to stick...
