that is ghetto rigging because it's not done correctly.

The computer turns the fans on and off to keep your engine running at the correct temperature.

Too cold and you'll throw the computer into open loop and it'll just dump fuel and you'll get bad gas mileage.

Too hot and you'll cause detonation problems, over heating, still bad fuel economy, ect...

Cars are meant to run a certain way. That's why they have all those sensor and computers. Any other way then the correct way is ghetto rigged. :thumbs up

.......kind of like a turbo timer? not so much
with the exception of the engine still running (as there is no turbo so no need for oil to be flowing to cool it), the fans are still blowing to cool down the car and circulate air (i know antifreeze isn't circulating either)....the volvo has an optional turbo trim level, so this is probably volvo's version of a "turbo timer" where you dont need to idle your car before turning it off.

i understand what he meant...but a turbo timer does more than just keep the fans on. and I understand that vovlos have the option for turbos...but I dont think that factory cars have turbo timers, or a version of them. and a turbo as small as that stock one doesnt really need to be timed. its overkill if you do.

Hookin a fan to a switch isnt ness. ghetto rigging. Im thinking about doing to for racing purposes.
but the way im doing it is, it will still be controlled by the ECU under normal driving, but if i flip the switch it'll cut on before the sensor reads 195 degrees.

theres a few things that could be making your fans stay on.

1. Reley..Always check fuses/Releys!
2. Bad ground
3. Sensor

Its pretty obvious its electrical, and if its not fixed the right way, it can lead to other problems. And electrical problems can be some of the hardest things to fix.

Enjoy.

found the problem, the fan relay vibrated off its little thing, and was upside down, and when i washed the car water got in it, so i just shook all the water out of it and now everything works correctly, ugh...sorry guys...
