yea im jsut learning how to launch, heel toe, double clutch.. all the good stuff... ive only been driving stick for a month and a half... can any of you give me some tips on launching?
Doubling clutching with a synchro tranny is pretty pointless. The only time it really helps is if you are trying
to go into first gear at speed, which I never do and don't recommend. Left-foot braking is a good technique to have in a FWD car though

y is dat and can u come to a complete stop using high brake (left-foot braking) without stalling ur engine or u have to put it in nuetral in order for u to use left-foot brake?

Double clutching is a technique that is mainly used in cars that don't have synchro trannies. It helps to match the gears on the input and output shaft to the same speed before they engage in order to keep them from grinding. The synchro's do that for you in your tranny. Doing it can help keep from grinding when going into first gear at speed though, since there is so much torque and load on the tranny in the lower gears.

Also, you have to put it neutral to stop a standard shift car without stalling it. Left-foot braking allows you to be able to be on the gas and brake through a corner. This is good in a front wheel drive because it gives you a way to adjust the cars ass end during a corner, since you can't just step on the gas to adjust the rear end. If you are reallly hanging a corner and your line is a little wide, you can give the a little left foot brake tap w/o letting off the gas to keep your speed. This causes some weight to transfer forward so it takes some of the weight off the rear which creates a little more positive camber which will allow the rear to slide out a little and the front to grip better to take a tighter racing line. Trail Braking and Left braking are about the only FUN ways to get a FWD car sideways too.

your such a liar hahahha you know you would race when some annoying kid in a chevy cavalier comes next to you and rev his engine hahahaa. but yeah street racing is for idiots because you can eitha get pulled over by a cop n get tickets, your car impounded or what not, you can blow your motor and shiet or you can end up killing or being killed in an accident. so lil cuzzin don;t street race or i'll tell your mom hahahhahahaha. o yeah u need some tein basic dampers or somethin in that GS-R of yours.
lol i feel you a 100% i wouldnt race anyone that i know that i can beat its pointless what are you gaining from it i use2 be like that when first got my car speed all time mess around with anyone on the road that even look liked they race but when you blow your tranny and car sits for 2month you ask your self was it werth it.
so why give that money to someone else when it can be going to motor

good going meng i hate puerto ricans in SI's or Eg's thinking they are fast and that they can drive....yea i usually have to break out my pumas if i wanna drive like im in a bestmotoring video my reg nikes are too big and i mess up....but its still fun to heel toe and left foot braking is a daily event i learned to drive on some shitty cars and sometimes you gotta keep them running at a stop light haha its all about the feel and what works for you...watch orido or the DK and youll get some good tips and techniques..

on launching? lets see everybody has a different method in my opinion. well when i first started, i revved to about 2500. and when the light turns green or person drops their hands. i would pull your clutch as fast as so i can to get a jump start. in most occasions if your tires are warmed up, you would get better traction. Falken Azenis FTW! im not sure how to explain the rest. it's all up to you to figure it out over time. revving higher than usual doesnt mean you have an advantage, sometimes you'll just have your tires spin like crazy while going no where. by then your opponent just closed the gap.

you're learning to heel toe? that's crazy lol. i cant do it at all because of my pedal levels.
I usually rev to about 4000 and drop the clutch fast but smoothly. Just enough, so I don't spin the tires to launch with full traction.

this thread is from ages ago... but uh this is how you launch, and if you dont do it like this, you should. it will improve your times.

when you are still, rev up to your normal launch rpm and slowly let the clutch out, once it starts to roll forward, pull up the e brake. this preloads your axles for the launch, you will get more traction and it also is less stress on the drivetrain. when the light changes/horn honks whatever, drop the ebrake and release the clutch at the same time. bam. beautiful launch

problem is when the ebrake doesnt wanna let go.. lol

But it gets the weight tranfer going in the direction that Newton's law says it will take. The suspension will be preloaded and ready to go instead of waiting on the rearward weight transfer to happen when you just nail it off the line(which makes your power wheels get light and thus spin more), which can cost vital tenths that are ever so precious when trying to get a good launch off a powerful FWD car. 60ft. times are the main problem that strong FWD cars face....you can chase down good times with old fashoin HP but getting a highpowered FWD off the line fast makes a helluva difference. He has a point! It just takes good timing
