im having a issue with my gsr turbo swap we were trying to street tune it today and we cant get vtec to work also some times it hits what seems like a rev limiter right before its suppose to crossover and has a bad stumble right before it goes into boost motor revs up really slow wandering if anyone had any usefull input ive got a rywire vtec subharness in the car we were able to get it to crossover once by putting power straight from the battery to the solenoid thanks in advance for any input

I was just the driver not the tuner afs were 14.2-15.3 at cruise and 11.3-11.4 while in boost new plugs bk7re I belive was the number on them

Sounds like an oil pressure issue. Without adequate oil pressure vtec won't engage or will sputter. How is the oil to turbo fed? Also get an oil pressure gauge.

oil fitting where the stock oil pressure sensor goes feed line from there to the turbo and stock oil pressure sensor is there as well I have all autometer gauges in my car but the sensor for the oil pressure gauge wont fit with this engine fit fine with my ls so i have to find another gauge is there anywhere else i can hook up my oil pressure gauge where the sensor will fit ?

I am not sure how autometers sensors look, but typically you don't want the sensir directly on the motor as the vibrations will kill the sensor. It is best to use a sandwich plate for the sensor and use an oil feed line to mount the sensor to the firewall.

First thing you need to eliminate if its mechanical issues. Possible low oil pressure like Nick suggested. Sometimes the VTEC screen can get clogged with debris.

Secondly you said you had a rywire vtec subharness. Obviously right there Im suspicious that it could be a wiring issue.

Get in the calibration, turn the vtec engagement point down very low like 3k, disable the vtec oil pressure sensor and rev the engine to 3k, the Ecu should signal that the VTEC output is engaged. While its doing that you should see 12v at the vtec solenoid. That test will test the Ecu and the wiring.

oil pressure is great just checked this morning and the screen is clean as a whistle this swap is in a 92 integra ls which is why I bought the rywire harness ill try the voltage test next thanks

Oil pressure is great meaning? whats it at after it warms up at idle? Also what is it at at 5k rpm?

its 75-80 at start up, 35-40 at idle when warm and at 5k its about 85 which I believe is all in spec which is why I said great is that not right ? solenoid also clicks checked that earlier as well and now once the car gets up to 150 degrees it wont rev past 5450 just shuts down rpm drops to 0 then starts over again

Those numbers are good. That is interesting that vtec will kill the rpm. What is it set to? I am guessing 5500 since at 5450 it has issues. The reason it does't do this before 150 degrees is because vtec won't engage until engine is warmed up.

im thinking its got something to do with the tune personally if we unhook the vtec solenoid and pressure switch or disable vtec on hondata it will rev up with no issues

As long as you are between 11 and 13 air to fuel at wide open throttle then it shouldn't have the issues you are having. Obviously you would want it to be more dialed in than that, but it still won't sputter if its in that range. What is your timing at?

It sounds like an ignition cut to me. Send me your calibration file to muckman at gmail.com

I was thinking that it was ignition cut after I saw oil pressure is fine. It isn't dizzy related either if it works fine without vtec. Is it pinging or getting detonation? I guess youll have to see the file first. I have never even read those files. I am curious what they look like. I don't fuck with my own tunes. Should probably learn though.
