grinding noise when moving

Noise only occurs when the car is in motion. It seems to be loudest on the drivers side, up front. The noise is not related to rpm. I can have the car in neutral, moving 25-30 mph, and hear grinding. The noise seems to subside after driving for a while. Mind you, i start driving AFTER engine is at operating temp. What should i look at? Where should i start?

Sometimes little rocks get caught in between the rotor and dust shield causing that noise as well. Most likely not a big deal.

Looking for my next Teg..
might be the bearing...

I'd suggest pulling the wheel off, inspecting the brakes, then hand turn the rotor and see if it turns smoothly or not

No no like, if theres a rock lodge in there, it would be a very loud grinding noise when pressing on the brake (this is while the car is in motion, so rotor in motion)

Oh yea I didn't mean inbetween the brake pad and rotor, they should always be in contact so that shouldn't happen. I meant between the rotor and dust shield, that happens to me alot, I just blow them out with air or get a long skinny srewdriver.

Thanks for all the replies. I don't notice a difference in noise when I press on the breaks, or let off the breaks. The noise is ONLY related to when the car is in motion, in gear or not, pressing breaks or not. Just drove with window down. Noise seems to be comming from front, but its difficult to pinpoint what side.

Also, at times the noise sounds more like its "squeeking" than grinding...what does a bad cv joint sound like?
