Going back to stock, quick question?

I Have a 98 ls automatic (lol) and when I bought it it had some no name eBay muffler on stock piping and a short ram intake with a spectre cone. Mind you I have an auto ls so my car is pretty much slow and its annoying to hear that exhaust going at 20 or 30 MPH. I plan on buying a stock ls muffler and putting that on snf putting my stock intake back on. Will I lost any sort of noticeable performance? Should I keep just the intake? How about if I put my stock intake back
on with a k&n cone filter? Any suggestions please?

i dont think putting on your stock air filter will make a differece in power just noise. i couldnt noticed any difference when i installed my short ram intake or cold air intake. it felt the same just probably sounded nicer in my opinion

Definitely ditch the muffler, it isn't doing much with stock piping besides being obnoxious. That would be first things first since the intake doesn't make a whole lot of noise in normal driving, only when if you're getting on it.

Yes! Very big difference! Your car will be tolerable to live with =D
Lol yeah No kidding its annoying to hear that awful exhaust every single time I accelerate. The diameter on the exhaust is like 2.5 or 3.0 inches. I hear that if you Have that diameter on a stock motor you'll lose power? Is that true?

i wud say that it depends on if it has back pressure or if it is a open pipe.2.5 inch is decent for performance but 3inch is just obnoxious and pointless as far as power gains

The Dohctor is in
3 in piping is really only useful for cars making big power like with turbos, too small of a piping on cars that make say 600 horses is gonna choke the motor causing you to lose power other than big power like that you'll never need bigger than 2.5

and on something that is stock you'd be better with a stock exhaust or something with the same piping diameter because too big off an opening is going to cause you to lose back pressure making your car have a lot less oomph

Okay guys thanks for all the input. Now I just need to search Craigslist for a stock ls muffler. Will any year ls exhaust work? Or gs rs
