I was about to buy a wrx but realized insurance will be high, it needs premium gas, maintanence will be costly, etc.

And you can't go wrong with with either, but I prefer a db. Civics are slow

I'm not sure what I'm gonna do. I'm willing to bet the high rpms are one of the reasons why I kept hearing a slight whining sound when I would push on the gas while coming home yesterday.

Check the pullies and belts.

I'll check them out. The noise was coming from the passenger side. So at this time my current problems are:
Whining noise from trans/that area
Random smoke blows through the vents randomly
Brake light stays on dash
High rpms
Sluggish acceleration
And I think thats it.

Tranny flush and tighten that brake cable

Trans just got changed 5k ago and I tightened the cable a while back and I actually stopped using the ebrake. The damn light just wont turn off.

Damn that's annoying. Find where the sensor for it is and clean it

Yeah. I did check the brake fluid today and it looks slightly low to me. I'm gonna add some fluid tomorrow and see if it'll turn off.

Fixed the brake light. Apparently the brake fluid was low.
