Since you can hear the antenna motor running, all you need to do is to replace the mast. At the bottom of the antenna mast is a long plastic 'gear' that actually makes the antenna go up and down. This is an easy repair and great instructions are found at tis link on Team-Integra.net.

You can buy an OEM replacement at Delray Acura. In this link it is part number 9.that cost $47. I hve bought from these people many times and they are always cheaper than my local Acura dealer

The Shark II Antenna is cheaper at $31. I used to have one of these but the reception, even in a major metropolitan area like Atlanta was not acceptable. I kept it for about three months and then ordered the replacement mast and went back to the original power antenna.

I also like the fact that when I am looking at my car the antenna is almost invisible.

Id highly suggest one of these:

It mounts inside the car high up on the windshield, you run the cable down the side a-pillar and plug straight into your radio (aftermarket or stock). I've personally installed dozens of these in people's car's and they're better than any stock antenna.. fantastic signal strength, so much in fact half the time you can leave them in the dash and they work great still.

After installed you can just plug the stock antenna hole in the back (after removal) or just leave it down and disconnect power to it.

Open the trunk, move the plastic shielding by popping out the clips, then disconnect the connector from the antenna motor. That will stop the annoying motor noise. If you want to fix it, buy a new Antenna Mast for pretty cheap on Ebay. Be very careful when taking off the nut with the 4 splines on the outside of the car where the antenna goes in as its kind of easy to slip and scratch the paint if using a screw driver. Hopefully the antenna mast isn't really stuck to the shaft like it was on mine or else it will take you a bit more work to completly remove the broken/old mast. Goos Luck! -Aaron

I actually fixed mine a few weeks ago, I went to my local wreckers and I found an old honda prelude, would have been an 87 or something, any sort of car with the extended back will do, civics wont do, anyway back to the story, I found this prelude and it had the same arial as my teg. since I only needed the one item the owner of the wreckers just gave it to me, make sure you look at wreckers before surfing the net, you will save yourself $40.
also before you start putting the new mast in make sure you take the remaining snapped mast out of the unit, you can access the unit by removing the dash in your boot and then undoing the 2 screws holding the electric motor in, then draging the motor out. The mast will be in the back of the unit, pull this out and thread the new mast in.
Good luck mate, hope you can understand my half drunk talking.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered one of these.
Did it work for you? I got it from them and for some reason I couldn't fit it in. Looks like metal sleeve(between black and white bottom) from my old antenna might be stuck inside the tube(from mjones post)

I carefully used a scratch awe to fold the metal in (tapped it down between the inner and outer tubes with a hammer) and once I got enough bent in I was able to push the whole thing out of the bottom of the tube with a screw driver. You need to take the whole tube assembly off the motor to get it out once you push it through but that's easy to do.

I unplugged the motor while it was down. Still picks up the radio fine... though I never listen to the radio anyway.

Yeah, I can say for the Shark II Antenna, the quality is not that good. I don't listen to the radio that much but when I do, it's very staticy. I just bought it for cosmetic purposes being that I didn't want my car to look like a toy r/c car. Lol
