i would honestly start with hosing down the engine pay and using a lot of engine degreaser

I'm in need of a new wrinkle black paint job on my valve cover AND major cleaning also... I painted all my piping black too... I think it looks nice.

I like the rising sun pics posted earlier... It would be really hard to do that on the LS valve cover though.... Too bumpy
