ebay turbo kits DONT SUCK!!!!!

have you ever seen a collector on those cheap manifolds? eck. they crack and cause leaks. the flanges are warped and leak. the turbos are blown half the time and i have heard of parts from the turbo breaking off and really messing things up. im running an ebay downpipe on my car that i had to get modified to fit. the material used on it is so cheap and thin. i suggest your friend get an a/f gauge and monitor how off his "tune" is running that cheap ass fmu. also, running an fmu like that will kill your fuel pump because of the extremely high fuel pressures. leaning out in boost is never good.

yea he's got all the guages and shit, hes on vaca right now so icant talk to him but i wana know what kinda tune he got for 5 psi... and kinda a dumb question but what FMU???

FMU = Fuel Management Unit.

It raises fuel pressure according to boost to make the injectors spray more fuel to accompany the denser air. It is a cheap, easy and can be a dangerous and inaccurate way to tune a car.

so do you think he just got that??? i cant find out for over a week or so. So an FMU doesnt require you to get your ECU tuned??

i think that this thread has basically summed up that there are certain precautions that you have to take when buying a turbo kit off of ebay...obviously there are somethings that on ebay for a turbo kit that are labeled as "acceptable" and somethings that are deemed hazardous to your motor. Some ppl have had a positive experience with them and some ppl have seen the consquences of buying "cheap" components for a turbo kit...
IMO if you were thinking of buying a turbo kit off of ebay i would buy a "name brand" turbo, turbo manifold, downpipe, wastegate and possibly a BOV
I personally think that intercoolers and I/C piping are acceptable on ebay

well im sure everyone is going to hate me for re-opening a very opinionated post but my friend friend has been driving my other friends integra that has the ebay turbo kit in it. Well even after showing him this post he still isnt convinced. He's question to me and all of you is simple. Beside the turbo kit what else will he need???? he says he wants an FMU becasue its cheap so the turbo kit andn the FMU so far is what he knows he needs to get. Wat injector size and what other parts should he get. AND PLEASE DONT START SAYING STUPID THINGS LIKE NEW MOTOR AND A BUNCH OF OTHER CRAP BECASUE HIOS MIND IS MADE UP, JSUT LET HIM DO IT. SO NO OPINIONS PLEASE. HE IS DEAD SET ON IT AND BUYING THE FMU NO MATTER HOW CHEAP OR DANGEROUS IT IS. thanks a buch
