DDM Tuning or BuyHids?

I can understand that. Networking is always a good thing. It's nice to know people in different businesses, and just to know them in general. I talked to Mike once, and he seemed chill, but the price difference was the big factor. I want to order a shift boot from you too, but that will come once I get the car on the road again and get some extra money.

Price isn't that much of a differance to be honest. But definately PM me when you're ready to order a boot :)

Being how he wants to set a group buy up for cobalt shift boots, I think it's safe to say it's a business related relation.

Im always all for making new friends, and meeting cool people. Same reason I'm thinking of making the 3+ hour drive to hand deliver omniousG2 his shift boot.

I'd rather help an honest person running a business to make a living vs helping a big company who the owner never deals first hand with customers.
making new friends is a good thing. but if it comes to small things like the hids? i dont get the point of actually tracking down the owner and having a little convo just to make sure their products are good. Thats why they have customer service.

And good for you man, i see that your really friendly.

I wasn't trying to track down the owner, he actually PMd me asking questions about my products. And it went from there.

I am a super friendly person. It takes alot to get on my bad side.

I'm going to do a nice writeup once I recieve my kit from Mike.

If buying from DDM for a 99 GSR, what exactly do I need to order, I know the basics but am unsure about thedifferent harnesses etc they also have.

Im pretty sure you just need to make sure you order the right bulb code. All the hid "kits" come with everything you need. I think the low beam is 9006

Any real difference in the sets? Buyhid looks to be a bit more expensive. Or am I reading things wrong?

Afternoon bump! I'm Mkulrey's business partner Steve from Buyhids.com Be happy to answer any questions you may have!

We are supporting vendors on several forums, and because of prices and popularity, we are constantly compared to DDM. It's a comparison I enjoy, because I honestly believe we have a better product, better service, and a better warranty.

I know this is a weird 1st post, but since we started the groupbuy I wanted to be around to answer any questions.

Thanks guys!

Welcome to the forum. I'm just trying to make the best when it comes to hids. What makes yours better than the competition? I'm a first time hid buyer so laymans terms always help. Thanks mitch

Thanks for the welcome!

HIDs in general are all basically the same, in how they work, but there are so many differences in price, wiring, type of ballast, method of connection, waterproof or not, etc.

Our ballasts, bulbs, and connections are all water resistant. The only thing from our kits that really can't get wet is the optional Relay Harness. All of our kits are "plug and play", so you simply unplug your lights, plug in our kit, and install in your headlights. We offer both 35w and 55w ballasts for those who want the choice.

As for service, we're a 2 man operation, and both of us are online almost all the time, either from our phones or on a laptop. Our goal is to answer PMs or emails within 30 minutes. We are available right here on the forums if you need us.

Warranty is another area that I love to be compared against DDM. Go to their warranty page on their website. It's a whole page of fine print and legal talk, also talking about shipping and possible fees. Our warranty process is simple. No shipping on your part, you don't send the defective part back to us, you don't pay any fees, and we don't need a whole web page to explain it. Our warranty is 18 months, no hassle protection against any defect. We offer lifetime warranty for just $9.99!

Don't get me wrong. DDM has a product that works mostly and that lots of people are happy with. If they didn't they wouldn't be in business. We're just here to tell you, there's other options out there!

I hope that answers some of your questions, and thanks again!

Thanks for the detailed reply. I'm looking into the group buy. Last question, what's th purpose of the relay harness!

In layman's terms, a relay harness takes power directly from your battery for the ballasts, and bypasses your stock wiring.

Relay harnesses prevent HID misfire's, flickering, and also stock wiring failure in the case of some 55w applications.

In most 35w applications they aren't required, but we do recommend them for added quality and piece of mind.
