No I just take it off at the lower ball joint and pry the hub back, I'll usually stick another prybar in there to hold it back while i'm pulling the axle out.
i think the cv broke all the way today, it started acting funny on my way to school and then by the time i was getting into the school parking lot it would go anymore so i had to roll into my spot, and then when i tried to put it in park it grinding so i put it in N to shut of the car and then put it in park, but the car started rollng backwards and had to put on the ebrake so it wouldnt move.
