That Hyundai has been out for 3 years

Hyundai has picked up their quality substantially recently, Check out the reviews on some of their cars.

Neither of us can compare your sound system to the Genesis' because you haven't heard it's stereo and i havent heard yours, so it's a blank statement with no real world comparison.
That's true on the high and mid ends, but bass wise, I don't have to listen to it to know mine shits on it. lol Technology wise too, that system don't even come close to mine. Not within ten miles, I can tell that just by the article too. It still had a DVD drive ffs.

So yeah, your assertion that you shouldn't have to upgrade your car in any way is put to rest, at least least in my mind it is.

N yeah, I've heard that too, they've picked up the quality control for the past year or two. lol. Too bad whenever I look at their cars it doesn't even register as anything that stands out or if it does, I think it's another type of car. lmao They rip off ALOT of stylings from other manufactuers.

A good sounding stereo isn't based on how loud it can go, Or how much it can rattle your car... It's based on clarity. There are 17 speakers in the genesis and they used metal mounts to keep it from making any sort of rattle... And that sound system comes in the Rolls Phantom ($400K+ car). I didn't say that all cars don't need to be ugraded. I just pointed out that there are cars under your $200K mark with excellent sound systems and better yet it be a Hyundai... I did make a note that my own 540I is in need of a upgrade.

I'm able to distinctly tell every car apart, I knew of the Genesis about 6 months before it came out and I knew of the Equus a year before it came out (examples to show that i'm on top of whats going on in the car world [Honda re-approved a NSX concept development a few months ago, the new TL got a mild face lift for 2011, the 2012 Civic should be hitting the dealers in a few months etc...])... But you are in a sense right since I've had a few friends point to a Genesis with the badge upgrade (no hyundai emblems anywhere) and ask me what kind of car it was.

TegyDriverYaDig

i drive YA DIGGG
just some input, i have both a 2000 integra ls and a 96 miata. both pretty stock and ive got to say the miata kills it on corners and is a lot of fun. but as far as convenience of DD and having room in general, the miata severely lacks in that area. So i drive the integra as a DD and occationally the miata but as far as mountain runs im gonna have to go with the miata. you have to take it on a mountain road to really feel the difference cornering, just going around around street corners you can hit them quickly in both cars but when your hitting back to back corners you feel the difference/

Yeah, I know alot of newer luxury cars have their sound systems build around the car. That's why I said you're probably right on the mids and highs. I don't subscribe to the Loud = better frame of mind either, but believe me, my system sounds pretty fucking good. Infinity components front and back powered by an a 400 watt RMS 4 channel Arc Audio amp.

I cut the metal frame of the car out myself to let the highs fit here.

Bass though, loud does equal better sometimes. And when you want it, I can guarentee you there's no stock system in any car that can do what mine does. :D

Front end wise again, that Rolls Royce probably don't have shit on my system either. I can almost guaentee it. :thumbs up

That does look like a clean install... I too had a unusual set up on my DB1

The rear deck lid was also cut up for bass clarity inside the car (It had a custom black vinyl panel over it with holes so it looked clean)... But I didn't really use high end audio parts, But it was certainly loud (tweeters in both corners of the dash, tweeters in each door, 4" speaker in the front doors on a custom panel, 6.5" in the doors (stock location) and 6x9s in the rear with 2 12' subs... They were all a mixture of pioneer and rockford fosgate... But it's hard to compare stereos over the internet. So I think this stereo debate needs to die because we can't come up with a accurate decision since you can't hear the lexicon system in the Genesis and I can't hear the stereo in your DA. So we'll have to agree to dis agree.

Oh yea, if you ever see those door panels... LMK, They were the only ones ever made and were one of the things that got stolen.

Yeah, but you're only halfway right. Overall sound quality isn't really debatable on the internet. In fact I'd probably even just assume it's better in a system designed into a car to a point. There's just no geting around that there's no stock sytem that can compete on a certain level with a 2000 watt RMS dedicated bass amp and subs that can handle that.

Also technology wise, there is no really debating the matter. My setup blows that out of the water.

Gots an Intel Duo Core T7200
4 Gigs of DDR2
200 GB HDD
7 Port USB hub
That has a 1.5 TB Seagate FreeAgent attached,
A GPS dongle
A Creative 5.1 surround soundcard
USB controlled computer Radio
Bluetooth Dongle
Centrafuse frontend

A 7 inch transreflective screen so it's readable in drect sunlight.

5.1 surround dedicated soundcard setup

All that and it's infinately expandale and upgradable by every select part too.

BTW, since I have so much storage space on my system, over 90% of my music library is lossless quality. Good luck trying that on that Genesis setup. About the only way that's going to happen is with a CD changer. By my last count Hyundai would have to install a 1500 disc changer in their primier ride to just match the content alone. lol The speed and efficiency with which I can look up any of that stuff is another matter. Like I said, good luck Hyundai. :thumbs up

Nice set up. But you might of put too much into a car that takes only seconds to get into (shaved honda key, no window frame)... I don't think the average person has that many songs, Personally I'm happy with just my Ipod... Which a aux or usb jack is now standard in many cars.

As long as it sounds good, Looks good, uses both CD and Ipod the typical consumer is happy... I think you might of went overboard on your set up but whatever floats your boat.

ipods are compressed audio. Shit qualty for the most part. What happened to the audio qualiy argument dude? Why did that suddenly go out the window? lol I told you I don' fuck around with my musc. lmao

As for the overboard comment, I built all this shit myself, so all it cost is parts which isn't too crazy if you know what you're doing. Also I got the setup put in there pretty stealthily....

Plus only my friends and family really know what's in there and I keep a close circle, soooo.......lol

Anyways, Ijust wanted to prove that it's possible to blow any preimum stock sytem away if you got any imagination and a little bit of know how. I think my system proves it. :thumbs up

I buy my songs from Itunes so their pretty good as far quality goes, Not CD quality but close enough... All it takes is one thief to see the dual din and say "want", Then "let's see if he has subs" the dual tone on the floor is kind of a give away. I don't know whats in every car and neither do you, So we can't say "ANY" stock system but you can probably say better then most or any "common" factory sound system. I like refinement in my cars and things to look stock and subtle in the car.

I keep that cover down, so nothing is viewable back there 99% of the time.

That may be true. I'll just say better than any I've ever seen or even heard of and leave it at that. I didn't even mention my searchable database of over 800 movies on the thing.
lol It sounds excesive, but it's really not. If someone steals that hardrive with all that content on it, $150 and a few hours copying all that stuff too it again is alll it will take to replace it. In fact I'd say the content in my car that I've collectedover many years is worth waaaaay more than the actual system, but that's why it's protected and backed up inside my home too. :) So basically, you just have to let go of the idea that what Hyundai or even BMW put in their premium systems is the best of what's available. It's not. Not even close.

They make stock looking facees to fit those car computer touchscreens in most newer cars BTW. Since my Teg is so old, they haven't gotten around to it yet, so I to improvise. Think I got it pretty flush stilll for what I had to work with

And iTunes?

Paying as much as they charge for DRM riddled 128 kb/s compressed music is appalling. Not even close to CD quality either BTW. I believe the information rate of CD quality music is in the upper 600 kb/s. Lossless iis 496kb/s and higher. I guess it's cool for the masses, which is never really saying much, but someone concerned with sound quality should know these things.

FWIW... BMW sound systems suck, All of them do... But they try. Hyundai just put the Lexicon system in that car to make it somewhat more appealing for someone who is searching for a $30K sedan.

I'm not that concerned with sound quality to be able to knit pick as much. But I know a horrible sounding system when I hear it.... Wait, isn't this thread supposed to be about a Miata?
