Basic turn signal question: DIY Clear signals?

Can I somehow modify my orange (OEM) turn signals so that they appear clear but will signal orange so they remain legal? I imagine that if I could access the inside of the signals I could wet-sand/shave off whatever orange application was applied and leave the orange turn signal bulb in place. Will this work or would I have to get a whole new set of turn signals if I want them to be clear?

I think the cover is colored orange. It shouldnt have a film or cover on it thats colored. You would need to but new turn signals, and put orange bulbs in them.

why dont you replace the clear lense signals and put amber bulbs in them??? save you time and you can always have an oem to switch later if you feel like it.

That part is easily done. I was more concerned with being able to turn my OEM turn signals into clear plastic by sanding off a thin layer of orange coating, however it appears that the plastic is orange all the way through (Any sure on this?). I was just trying to save some money by converting my current tail lights instead of buying a while new set.

So you want to do the rear not the front? you could always buy EDM taillights but those are ~$300 or more

Well preferably I would do both front and rear turn signals. If I cannot do it myself I will just stick with what I have as I cannot justify spending large quantities of money for vanities sake when I could use that money for maintenance instead.

If the interior of the turn signals is just coated with a light layer of orange tint I am sure I can find a way to make them clear. If they are orange all the way through it will be impossible (Obviously).

sadly enough the plastic is colored all the way through. You will have to replace the entire lens. They pop up on ebay but, Caveat Emptor there.

Ebay clear corners are the way to go. I tried to clear my stockers... lets just say they were destroyed in the process.

sorry to bring up this old thread but as im feeling around my tail lights it seem like the turn signal area of the tail lights, is cut out of the rest of the tail light housing. so my question is, is there any way to pup out the lens cap for the turn signal on the tail lights?
