Basic/stupid question re: valet switch

Ok...

Obviously, I'm semi-new around here. Lurked a good while, but just recently picked up a '95 LS after my old daily driver (a 1991 Toyota Corolla) blew a head gasket and just wasn't worth the expense of rebuilding the top half of the engine.

Anyway, snapped up the LS and I've spent the last few days getting to know the car. But there's one thing that's driving me nuts.

On opening the hood, there's a warning sticker on the frame stating the vehicle is equipped with a valet start system that should be disabled before disconnecting the battery, as the system may attempt to start the engine after the battery's reconnected.

The problem is I haven't been able to find anything about what exactly the system is or how to enable/disable it. Nothing in the manual that came with the car, and nothing I've been able to find on either this or other forums or through Google searches.

Little help?

i got that sticker when i got a viper alarm remote start put in my honda, it was just a small button they put right by the fuse box. never used it. didnt really bothered to use it so......

Yeah, it has something to do with a remote start. If the previous owner didn't mention a remote start, I doubt it still has it.

Do the battery thing and see.

It's been bugging the hell out of me trying to figure out what that was.

Unfortunately, no previous owner to talk to since she traded it in to a dealership rather than selling it herself (probably could have bought it from her for $1500 instead of the $2300 the dealership got out of me).

Worth the money though, car was only owned by the girl's grandmother and then the girl when she went to college, so...It's unmolested, and apart from a couple rub marks on the bumpers it's in pristine shape.

Sad thing is, the dealer probably gave her $1000 for it.

That's an aftermarket remote start and not OEM.

W/out the remote, it is useless. But you could always buy a new remote.

Drop your driver's side lower dash cover. The remote start brain will be very obvious. Find the part number so you can look up compatible remotes on DEI's website. Also, you can trace the little switch that disables the remote start. It's almost always mounted in the driver's kick panel near the hood release, but it may be anywhere near the lower dash or center console.

It's also probable that the system was removed.
