Bad Gas Economy & Dropping the Gas tank?

there is no reason to pull the tank. If its been sitting pour some paint thinner in it, change the filters, put good gas in it, and run it.

That's not really going to get rid of any gunk/dirt/rust that might be sitting in the tank. If it's really not all too hard I say go for it. I'd rather have it out and clean it because you will be able to turn it upside down and get anything sitting at the bottom.
