That should work out good, you just have to make sure you pick a cable manual trans that works best for what you are looking for.

Thanks man! I might just get a b18a1 trans. It just seems to work out the best for me. I can get one cheap, due to the amount out there and get a rebuild kit and rebuild it and then install it on my b18a1 motor till I save up enough for the b20. Wait the b18 trans will work with the b20 motor right?

B16 one is really short, just so you know. I think a YS1 is a good one in the middle, not too short but short enough to be fun. If you need good gas mileage, you may not want a B16 trans, though I like them myself, but I have a very short commute.
isnt the cable b16 same as the b17?
Yes, the GSR YS1 is the same gearing as the JDM Y1, S1, YS1, and J1 B16 transmissions.
There is also a YS1 LS cable trans.

To be honest, I think the specs list them the same in some spots I see, but they feel very different really. The B17 YS1 trans feels longer and gets a lot better mileage and keeps rpms lower, while the B16 one is shorter feeling. It feels like a significant difference to me actually, and i have driven a few YS1 transmissions and a few B16s.
My YS1 GSR trans doesn't feel much, if any, longer geared than my B16 trans did. I don't see any real gas mileage improvements over the B16 either. I'd have to ride in your car to see for myself though...

a cable b16 with an ls final drive IMO. And I prefer cable over hydro any day but I'm just old school. With an AC and PS delete and I/H/E and the tranny it will be worth it 100%.
I wouldn't go LS final drive, I'd just replace the b16 5th gear with the LS fifth.
I also wouldn't do the AC and PS delete. Why does everyone do that? I lived in Houston for almost 3 years, fuck having no AC.
