Thank you for not researching.... Search ls/v on google, there's TONs of write ups explaining how it is not plug and play

i did that already. what i meant was what will be the best way to build the engine with the b16 heads and if it will be reliable

it is to my understanding that an ITR head is the best but the best will cost you. I believe the B16 head is the exact same with minor differences. The head doesn't determine the reliability of the build. What determines reliability is the time you take to make sure everything is done to spec and the quality of the parts you use. Read up on as many LS Vtec builds as you can I think there is one on Honda-Tech and get you a good LS Vtec kit and ARP studs for everything build it to spec and get a good tune. As long as you don't dog it out it will be an amazing motor. Ive been debating on whether I was going to do LS Vtec or if I'm going to stay non-vtec. Good luck with your build and I hope this helps :) Oh and welcome to CI !!!!!

thanks man i really appreciate it. but the thing is that i dont want to swap it to ls/vtec, i want to keep it as non-vtec w/that said will it still have the same power as an ls/vtec?

If you are trying to stay non-vtec then a b16 head isn't what you want as it is a vtec head...for non vtec you want a b18a1 or b18b1 head. those are the only non-vtec motors in the B-series

and you probably won't yield the same power as an LS Vtec

So you're asking for help on putting a b16 head, which is vtec, on a b18 non vtec... But say you don't want vtec.... You are talking circles.

ARP head studs, rod bolts etc are all things you should look at

Sounds like lsvtec is definately not what you want. Someone already stated in a sense that you cannot run a vtec head on a nonvtec motor without doing a vtec conversion, essentially lsvtev or any variant of a vtec conversion. That said you dont have options for a head swap in non vtec that will produce any results that warrant expense. If you need a new head cus it needs to be replaced then consider vtec conversion done right for reliability and power or just leave it non vtec. Also if you are just getting into motor work, take a step back and start learning what each part of the motor does, how it works and what the differences are between parts/motors and the benefits of better/aftermarket parts. You need a far better understanding of what youre working with before doing a vtec conversion.

Don't know how your funds are, but you can indeed run a b16 head on a LS/b20 block and not have to be VTEC. But we are talking about some $$$'s in VTEC killer cams.. I don't know if you was referring about that or not. But it sounds like you have some more researching to do...
