Autocrossing Integras?

You touched on it pretty well. The first thing to do is make sure the car is fully functional and safe. Once you have done that, the first thing to modify is the tires. Don't get anything fancy or expensive, but make sure they are good performance tires; the current crop of Extreme Performance street tires will do the trick (Bridgestone RE-11, Dunlop Star Spec, Kumho XS, etc.). But the most important thing to getting better is seat time. Just get out there and drive.

so you think tyres come before suspension set up? and seat time is key, for sure. this is such a driver-centric sport, i love it haha

speaking ofwhich, i might try to go to that Autocross event thing in Monterey, i think they have an event on the 27th of this month.

And luckily the Navy base near me is having an autocross event on August 22nd. And my buddy can get us military discounts :) yay!

For sure. Tires are by far the biggest improvement you can make to a car. If you spend lots of time or money upgrading the suspension, but not the tires, you will have nothing to keep your nice suspension in contact with the pavement. If you want an actual list of mods in order of importance for autocross, they are:

1) Driver
2) Tires
3) Suspension
4) Brakes
5) Power

It's funny that drag racing is almost exactly the opposite of this.

Youre rigght in a way. im not a good example of what to follow for auto x set ups cause im dumb and lazy but you should upgrade the following in this order

Driver (smoothness, confidence, speed) being smooth alows you to be confident and confidence leads to speed.
brakes. THis is by far what you want to upgrade. stop faster get on the power faster
Tires
Suspension-auto x suspension is opposite of circuit you want to have SWAY so stock height or springs is cool to have and a stock sway bar is perfect. too stiff you may spin.

check your local SCCA

I'd say Driver, tires, brakes, sway bars, springs/shocks or coilovers, everything else. Years and years of practice is the most important part IMO.

bro i agree. well i guess sways help but you want them on a loose setting instead of a neutral setting. you want some sway in your car. And as for lowering you want alot of shock travel so a coilover or spring with the car raised higher than you would on daily driving will be perfect

Whhaaa???

The fastest way to get a FWD through a course is with a neutral or slightly oversteer-oriented setup. Having lots of body roll and shock travel will limit the feedback and response of the car. It should be setup properly for conditions and ideally for the driver IMO. It's like that in a canyon, a cone course, or a track.

i will have to agree with this 100 percent. i've only been into Autox for one solid year. 2 and half total you can say. finished 2nd in the the H-stock regional using my '08 civic last year with just cheap falken RT-615 tires. finished 4th overall in the street tires class.

my current integra that i am building right now is not really aimed towards AutoX but overall fun to drive daily and track car. It will compete in the Street modified class which i think will dominate in my region. check out my build thread for details. I am running a honda s2000 engine with a '05 RSX transmission in my 99 integra Type R 5-lugs conversion. Also, JDM ITR sway bars front and rear. Runing PIC suspension 10K springs in front and 8k springs in back. I am contemplating going to Swift Springs and Moton shocks.

And i am just a little south of you. I am from Oklahoma. From the Neokla region.

And If i had a type R i will not move out of stock class. Because last year at Nationals, the D-Stock class if not all were Type R's.

Like you said...probably not the best build for autox, but that will be a hoot to drive.

FWIW, the Type R has company this year in D Stock since the MINI Cooper S was moved there. Should be interesting to see how Nationals turns out, but I think the Type R will still take it.

idk i get faster times when i soften up the car and allow more shock travel. ask matt about it he knows more about the theoretical stuff than i do...i adjust depending on what i think needs to be done

So I ran autoX on sunday. WHY was I in the CMF class?! They through me in the CMF Class with ridiclouse cars that I could never compete with. That had up to 10 seconds on me on the track! I ran a 42.xxx; while the number one car in my class ran oh... 34.xxx or something? I was so pissed, good bye points...
