LOL^ No!

HKS 280 cams.

Making them idle with the intake cam advanced 1 degree and the exhaust retarded 3 while running 1000cc injectors. It's gonna make it a little tougher. It took awhile to get it smoothed out good just with the 750's

The car idles now at 750rpm's. I may try bumping it up a little to smooth it out whenever I put the new injectors in

ahhhh..... I almost feel dumb, but had no clue so I'm over it. lol

what's a little more fuel at idle going to change.... lol

It's not necessarily the adjusting the fuel at idle that is a so bad. Getting my global fuel adjustment for new injectors correct is simple math. Getting the dead time adjustment right is a little more of a pain. Getting them both both to get along together and give me the right long-term fuel trim just sucks.

But I won't have to adjust my setting on the RPM based fuel adjustments if the global and deadtime are right. I just may have to lean out a little at idle.....probably speed it up a little too

I have no clue.. we just started with fuel maps. Stock stuff is all I know, but tuning is something else. lol

Does the aftermarket not change the longterm fuel trim on it's own?

The DSMlink uses the deadtime value to make LTFT adjustments. The ECU takes that value and adds on to it to makes it's own long term fuel trim adjustment. You start by getting it as close to the ECU's value as you can and then use the global and deadtime setting to zero it out

The ECU takes into account the response characteristics of injectors when calculating how long to fire them. It first calculates the appropriate time from airflow, knock, o2 and all sorts of other data. It then adds an amount of time based on battery voltage to account for how long it will take the injector to physically open up after being told to do so. This injector response time is referred to as dead time. It's a characteristic of injector design and size.

That has to be adjusted because of the trade off with larger injectors. You get more fuel flow but you also get slower response.

yeah, I knew that about how they fire. actual time vs comand time. I guess that's "dead time" then..

wow, there's a lot of stuff we still have to go over on fuel trims tho.. lol, we've only had like 2 hours of it so far. Give me a week and then I'll probably understand what you're saying.

I'm off to see Jumper. Later
