Essentially we get in trouble for doing our job. We do it in groups of 2 so we can do double the amount of work (company policy so we don't hurt ourself due to heavy weight). Management comes out and tells us to separate since it's busy and we should work alone until we catch up. So we do. Once we catch up we start working together again since it sounds like it would be fine from the way they worded it. After about 2 hours they come out again and tell us they meant for us to be separate the whole shift. I apologize and explained that I took it as only when it was busy. They accepted my apology, but my partner who has had enough of this starts giving them a hard time about this and tons of scheduling conflicts that are clearly management's fault. They're scheduling him during his school hours after they agreed he'd work only Saturday and Sunday. They start arguing and basically tell him that this is what they expect. It doesn't sound that bad, but it's been a continuous battle for the last few months. We've been doing the exact same thing for almost 4 years and have gotten nothing but praise, but after getting a few new managers all at once everything is changing for the worst. Now all of a sudden after not getting in trouble once for almost 4 years we're getting pulled into the office and told were not performing our job properly even though we do everything out job description entitles us to, PLUS a ton of other work on top of that. We've gotten screamed at and told "if you guys can't perform your job I will find someone who can" multiple times because it'll be 110 degrees outside and we're busting our balls and we'll stop for 30 seconds to have a drink from our water bottles. Managers at my place do not sit back and observe. They'll see us "wasting time" and act upon that, while in reality we just finished a task and took a gulp of water, or we just finished loading furniture in a customer's car and we're walking back inside.
My coworker just had enough of the assumptions and belittlement and told the managers off and walked out the door.
If I had another job I would be doing the same thing, but no other place would be as flexible around school, or pay decent enough.
I've been offered a new, higher paying job position by the manager and I accepted. This was a beginning of August by the way. I accepted and he and the supervisor for that position welcomed me to their team and everything. When I followed up a week later wondering when the new position starts I was told that it would happen on the new schedule. I kept doing this for weeks and I eventually got "it's not in the budget". Meanwhile we are 4.5 million dollars above plan. I then get approached by the automotive manager and got a job offer from her. I talk to the manager and he set me up and everything for it. (This was a couple weeks ago now). When I followed up about that I got the same "it'll be on the next schedule" crap. I asked him Tuesday and I get "I don't know. I haven't thought about it." I keep getting strung along like it's some kind of game.
Not to boast or anything, but every single employee (including managers) will vouch that I am a very hard worker and do all the time. I get compliments everyday, all day. I've gotten countless promotions and promise of more, yet as soon as anything comes up managers come crying to us and take their stress out on us.
Last week a manager flipped on me because at 10 pm (I was done at 11) I was asked how my work was. I reply "pretty much done. I still have an hour left, I'm just going on break then I'll finish up early." So I'm sitting on break and he comes in and yells at me while I'm on break. He says that it's not up to his expectations because I apparently said I was completely done. Blah blah blah and I can't leave until every last thing is done, even if it means I'm staying late. I'm very pissed at this point so I say "I'm sure the ministry of labor would love it when I tell them that you're forcing me to stay late." the manager that gave me a hard time left the room at this point because he had nothing to say. I pretty much always keep my cool, but things have been so bad I just lost it. Anyways after the manager left the room a second manager who was in the room to hear this straight up said "Hey man, I know you've taken a lot of crap because of other people's mistake. I'll go talk to him and set it straight." at the end of my shift the manager who freaked out on me apologized and said he shouldn't have acted that way towards me, I'm a hard worker and the store wouldn't function properly without me.
I'm just getting sick of the constant praise from literally everyone then getting flack for someone else's doing...
