After-Market Steering Wheels

i was thinkin about how nice an aftermarket steering wheel(spoon racing wheel, personal or nardi) would look in my dc but then came the question if the steering wheel has no air bag then the srs light would come on, then how would you solve this issue?
So say you disable the driver side air bad(fuse pullin) would the passenger side still work.

any who hsd an after-market steering wheel please help.

i think its dumb not only do you lose the airbag you lose the cruise control too if your car has it.

you can always wire up your own cruise control, the connections are still there, just need to wire a custom set of switches.

I think adding a non-srs wheel to a daily driver is moronic. I mean what are you really gaining with the new wheel that would be worth your life in a car accident?

wow lots of mixed opinions.

you can use aftermarket steering wheels however in some states its ILLEGAL to downgrade a car that has airbags to one w/o it. there are warnings that says "Off Road Use Only". looks like everyone here is only concerned about your safetly... but we're got gonna tell u what to do... you do what you do.

as for the srs light, there's a yellow plug under your dash... it needs to be hooked up to a device to clear it. whether or not the passenger side airbag works iono. better have HUGE "BUCKLE UP OR DIE" stickers in your car... lol

as everyone has mentioned about the safety, but its your own car and your own risk in the end.

there are ways to keep the passenger air bag functional, but it hasn't proven to work, i believe you put a 4 ohm resistor so that you can mimic the srs on the driver side and the srs lights comes off, meaning the air bag system is working. now upon a collision the theory is that the passenger bag will go off. but what will happen to the driverside is yet to be confirmed.

at any note it is doable. but like most people say its more of track only thing

my airbag are disabled anyways. and i'm going to be runnign a momo tuner wheel come summer time because i want the smaller wheel.
oem is way to big for track.

I have a momo in my gs-r.. I just unplugged the bulb of the SRS lol.. but let me tell you.. it does looks 100x better than stock and believe me or not the handling feel is way better. I don't believe in air bag since I totalled my last car (civic) no airbag activated and I came out unscratched.. I might get takata harness this time.

see my reason for thinking about doing this is because my dc has a JDM HID front on it and i daily drive it. So i want a quick release on it too for secruity. don't want it stolen

1 word, Towtruck. Not to mention the theives ive seen (that go after tuners) carry a whole array of wheels and lug lock keys.

do other security on it. ie fuel kill switch, clubs, footlock...
Will work alot better then having a removeable wheel for security

already have some kill switches in place and alarms with built in kill switch. but with no steering wheel it will deter a thief sooner if he don't see a steering wheel and not waste his time. no steering = no driving off if you don't bring their own
