A question about turbos

Everything AlexD said is right, just remember OP

GET A GOOD TUNE!

I cannot stress enough on that subject, don't just slap a turbo and there with a s***ty tune or no tune. This will usually cost a pretty penny so make sure to be prepared and avoid "piggyback" systems. A proper dyno tune will ensure your motor will last. And like Alex said, it doesnt matter how much psi you push, its how much power you make that will kill the motor which in your case is 300whp.

And another thing, try to avoid cheap ebay turbo products such as turbos, wastegates, bov's, and turbo manifolds. They will fall apart a fail which could cause a lot of damage. The only ebay product i would buy to save $ would be the intercooler, piping, oil drain & feed lines, couplers, etc. Stick to name brand things.
ACtually EBay (cast iron) turbo manifolds are good, I have ran one on my D16Z6 for alittle over a year and no problems at all. I made 440whp at 32lbs on an HX35 and ran a cheap intercooler. BUt never use the oil supply lines, I have seen a few split right where they joing the steel brade to the fitting(on dyno). Wouldnt want that to happen when your cruzing down the high way, that would be a quick end to eveything in your motor. If you can I would go to a line shop or go to a hydrolic repair shop they can make 1/8 lines and there pretty cheap and wil hold like 20,000 psi so it will be fine on a 100 psi system

Small turbo like 48a.r pushing 20 somthing lbs was making 330
Large turbo pushing 7 lbs made 380

This was on my buddys EG with a b16 nothing was changed

J13 sooo mad
Ok so i talked to my friend at INMW and they said that what i said was misleading. i apologize and realize what i said was wrong and ill give you positive rep for correcting my mistakes. again I apologize.
Dont worry about it. Its better that you understand why what you said was incorrect vs being ignorant and not taking the time to understand, and then spreading false information everywhere.

Ive only heard good things about IMW and Drob, so props to those guys for helping you understand.

Ebay cast iron manifold being good = debatable and what your definition of good is.

Most of the time the cast iron manifolds are ok, they hold up decent for the regular street driven turbo honda, however, alot of them have horrible wastegate placement, usually over 1 runner, and you get a lot of exhaust pulses fighting eachother to get to the turbocharger.

IMO, the price is the only thing these manifolds have going on for them

Im sure that these ebay manifolds will hold up to frequent passes down the 1320, but unfortunately theres more to performance than a straight line. Turbo manifolds like full race cost alot because the material quality and welds are top knotch. Putting a cast iron manifold through a rigourus test such as a road course where you are constantly on the throttle and alot of heat being generated would surely show its weak point imo.

Log Style Cast Iron Manifolds are bullet proof, the only down side is the fact that they don't flow well compared to many other styles. They keep the turbo tucked tight against the motor to allow you to use a full sized radiator and dual fans ans well as retain your A/C

I had mine coated in Jethot. My shop actually manufactures these.

Ya my D16 is my summer dd, and havent had problems and I drive it to the track thats 2 hours away.

to make them flow better you can de burr the runners and help it flow alittle better.. mine spooled 500 rpm sooner after I de-burred mine

cast manifolds of that type will spool a turbo sooner for sure. those runners are extremely short. The only one I would even think of running is the inlinepro stainless steel "log" manifold, just me though. Their stuff seems like quality, havent heard one complaint.

sometimes lower psi is better like if yo hava a restrictive head your psi will be higher than if your hed is ported like a mf it will initaly lower the psi number but it will increase your hp and put less stress on your turbo lower intake temp wich = more power and relibality
