A friend of mine came across a family of 7 living in a van. Please donate if you can. Heres the story.
Went to meet a family of 7 living in their mini van today. Oh how I wish I had an empty house or apartment or something, at least to get those kids baths and wash their clothes. Living in a van for 5 months must take a toll. There is not an inch of free space in there. I took them some fruit, tortillas and bottles of water. I have never seen kids so excited for water... saying "finally" and "me, me i want one i want one" Gave them each a hot wheels from our wedding and got a little toy for the 1 year old. My heart hurts... One little boy when I said what can I do to help, the turning four year old said he wants a bed.
"Dear friends please feel free to repost this on your pages too! I am collecting donations for the homeless family of 7 I visited today that live in a van off the 110 fwy. A few of them have caught a cold, the little boy asked me for a bed, they are FILTHY and need showers and they need diapers for the baby. I bought them food and water today but they really need a few days to get cleaned and get healthy in a motel. Please send donation to MIZFISH@aol.com (PLEASE SEND IT AS A GIFT AS IT IS A DONATION SO WE DO NOT PAY FEES"
Heres the progress.
Here is your update for the day. Keep the donations coming and keep sharing this story please! I found a 1 bedroom apartment that will take them, not worrying about a credit check or anything. It is 800/month and 800/deposit. They agreed to help me and I will be bringing 1100 cash today and get the keys. The family has no idea but they are enjoying their 2nd night in the motel. Once I get them... in the apartment I can start collecting goods. I may try to get some goods tonight from some of you so that they are there when they move in. More funds and gift cards are welcomed so I can get electricity and gas going and get them food. Possibly a few blankets, clothes for interviews, diaper, wipes, they all need shoes.... Things are coming together. it takes a village and I know I have the greatest village ever! You are all angels.
And so today i went and dropped off a mattress, bathroom goods, pillows and some kitchenware. They will be off to a good start but i think we all know how difficult a job can be and i have some concern over them being able to stay there on their own initially. A little bit is a lot. So this is what i have to say to you all.... the kids.
Someone who happend to be moving out of an apartment in the same building donated a queen bed and table. This came at a great time for me as im consolidating a lot of things in my household as well.
