A few boost questions

Im currently in the stages of turboing my ls but i have a few questions.

1) my compression is 189-191 in all cylinders which i know is a beasty healthy motor, but will 10 psi be to much for it to handle, that will give me ~265-290

2) i run a full size dual core radiator atm, it cools my car liike a champ and dont really want to part with it, will the blox cast iron mani work with a big radiator like that? if not what half size would you recommend?

what turbo is it? i run 10 psi on a t3/t4 .50 a/r (generic turbo) on a stock ls

i might suggest upgrading your headgasket.

i think you'll need a half core, i have a jdm front end so im not sure about usdm. mishimoto makes really good radiators and are pretty affordable,

it's the turbonetics super 60 .48 a/r

my cometic head gasket and arp main studs are right next to me, so not a problem

i looked on the mishimoto site and dont see anything about a half size radiator anywhere

ask dave (spooledupracing) and hell send you a half core for a good price.

may as well get a GReddy timing belt while you're at it. If you're going to spend the money on boost, then actually spend the money. Get some lower compression forged pistons and rods. That will help out a lot.

10 lbs on a dd does not need forged internals. I don't know how many times we go through this every month, although i do agree that a new timing belt would be a fantastic idea :)

well b18's come from the factory with forged rods im sure, so done lol

i dont have an aftermarket timing belt but it was changed 5k miles ago with an oem one, will that suffice?

and i dont want to have to buy a half size, i just would like to know if the mani will fit in with my radiator, or will the compressor housing on the turbo hit

10 psi will be fine, but will probably make it last not as long, it sure as hell wont make it last longer, if you have the money and time forged low compression pistons and rods are a good idea but not necissary, i mean its not going to kill your engine in 30k miles, my engine has 270k and its been boosted for a while
if you are going to do internals you might as well replace/upgrade some/all of the valvetrain and get turbo cams. but again its not necissary, i run 10 psi on a stock ls, but i know mines not going to last much longer, im planning on getting a new b18b1 by this summer.

and you cant beat 250 bucks :thumbs up

well my motor was pulled from my buddies ride, it was fully rebuilt with oem parts, so its like a brand new motor

its ment to be my dd for awhile till it blows up, im not doing it cheap either its costing me 4k tom boost my car with all the parts/tuning

and how efficent are the half size's at cooling compared to my full size?

they are good, as long as you have a good intercooler you will be fine, you can heatwrap your turbo mani, that will keep temps down a bit

idk about the rod bolts, im driving this car with the plan for it to blow so i can rebuild it from the bottom up, im not trying to go all out, i do plan on it blowing, i just want it to last a year or 2 before it does
