Could it be the power lead from the battery to the alternator? The cable is a bit corroded so maybe it needs a new one?

thats where i would start too, but if you you never changed out the alternator its prob never been changed an now its done, but is your battery light on in your dash?

Seems like your problem would most likely be coming from that cable, shouldnt be too hard to replace, let us know if it works

Check for energy drain, wire is not the problem unless you have mad system.
