00 LS - Birthday Makeover

* EDIT - I suppose this should have been posted in Multimedia, sorry about that mods, please move if needed *

Bought my car last year, completely stock, and have always had things I've wanted to do to it. I got a lot of money for my birthday and was able to sell my meshies to help fund this little makeover!

First day of ownership:

Got a Viper alarm, 6k HID's, and new tires soon after I bought it last year.

Now for the birthday list!

- Tint (35%)
- Drag DR-31's in gunmetal (15")
- eBay ABS Type-R lip
- LED interior light conversion (cluster, climate control, map light, dome light, trunk) ** Thanks to klutch-db7's how-to on this forum **
- eBay short shifter
- Energy suspension shift stabilizer bushings
- Painted wiper arms (obviously that didn't really cost much money but, whatever! Helped with the makeover)

*It was overcast when I took these, so the car looks sort of dull :( *

I've got clear turn signals and a new shift boot on the way too.

That's all, thanks for looking! Just wanted to share. I'm much happier with the look of the car now. Either for Christmas or birthday next year I'll be lowering it, which it obviously needs bad! Maybe Tein springs w/ skunk2 shocks? Eibach pro? We'll see.

Looks good bro. But those tires are way too fat for those rims & it needs to lowered :)

Thanks & :( at the same time.

Lowered is high on the list for sure. I would have had to skip on several things in order to lower the car though, so I chose "everything else" and lowering last. I'm hoping I can convince my wife before x-mas that the car needs to be lowered. Maybe I will get lucky and one of the stock struts will let go.

I've had a couple people mention the tires, I swear they don't look so bad in person :( They are 195/60. Honestly the 60's were more available and cheaper than the 55's so thats why I went with them. It was about $400 installed w/ a warranty for them.

No matter, tires wear out, more to come later!

Got vtec?
Looks good. If I were you, I'd look into getting a polyurethane lip instead. ABS is known to crack and fatigue.

My tires are 195/50/15 I think I paid like 300$ brand new not 100% sure.
Just buy a cheap spring/strut combo for like 350$ blox, tokico, kyb etc ..

@Teggy: I will keep that in mind. The lip was like $70 shipped so I'm not too worried about it if it doesn't last too long. The whole front bumper needs to be replaced or re-painted anyways. It's got holes from a previous lip and more important it's a different color silver than the rest of the car! GRR! The previous owner had it repainted (by a friend I think) because it got scraped in a parking lot right before he wanted to sell it. ANYWAY, thanks for the heads up, I might look into a poly lip for a longer term solution after some painting happens.

@cody: thanks :)

@Havok: The Tein S and skunk2 combo or an Eibach pro kit are about $450.00. I might go with one of those. While I do technically have the money I have a wife to keep happy and a mortgage to pay... game over :( Soon as I can though, lowered!

THEY SUCKED! The guide on this site was correct with bulb sizes (for the most part, see below) but the climate control just wouldn't come out very far. The harness doesn't have much slack in it and I couldn't get it unplugged so I had to do it at a goofy angle and without much room.

I also struggled with the hazard light but I'm pretty sure the LED bulb just doesn't have enough room so that didn't get replaced. The rear defroster light bulb did get replaced though.

I didn't go for the high power LED's as mentioned in the guide. I think it saved me about $15 not to go with the high power ones. Turned out fine IMO and still a very nice upgrade from stock. I went with the "cool blue" color. The climate control did turn out very blue, but the cluster is a white'ish/blue'ish color that looks nice.

Told ya climate control sucked haha. Theyre a bit more blue because there's a slight blue film on the backside of all the buttons

:)

I think I spent an equal amount of time trying to figure out how the bulb fits into the hazard button. I'm pretty sure they don't.. I just gave up though! Don't think it's deep enough for the bigger LED bulb.

Excellent write up though, thank you.
