Build looks good, in for the rest. When you put it together from the rebuild before what grit was used to hone it and was the right rings used for it. Did you check your ring gap.

Why the new alternator Jason? If I recall you went through some trouble with the alternator and ended up upgrading it with a Legend or Vigor alternator?

I let the machine shop take care of all that before so I do not know. I certainly didn't check my.ring gap, which is obvious that was one of the problems. I am certainly going to do that this time
more pics of 5 lug car? ; D
It's going to be in a magazine sometime soon, but I'm sure there's pics from the ECHM 2011

Thanks, but I don't have a lot of money. Everything I do takes lots of saving.

My alternator wire fried and before I got to the root of the issue I bought a remand alternator. The one I swapped before was a legend alternator. Oh well ;)
good to see your still around bro :D
Still alive and kicking :)

Ya I would definitely check the ring gap plus ptw clearance as well.

For sure.

Dropped the block off at my machine shop yesterday morning to get the cylinders honed to match the pistons. They looked at the pistons and said they were still good to use and I should worry about the small scarring on them. They will clean out the ring landings and check the ring gap, but I will be double checking when I get the parts back (Thursday or Friday).

I also ordered new ACL bearings to match the bearings I had in the block before, as the clearances were still within spec, but had some wear from me not changing the oil for... maybe a year.

In the mean time, Im just cleaning up some of the parts I pulled off of the motor so that they are cleaned up when I put everything back together.

My machine shop called and said the ring gap for my top ring exceeded the maximum allowance for the ring. I ended up calling Total Seal and ordered a set of file to fit top rings for the engine. Whats unfortunate is that they were pretty expensive... Oh well, I would rather put some extra money in to get it right, and Im also getting anxious because I really want to drive it again.

My bearings came in the mail as well.
