Wheel Bearing Replacement

I am pretty sure that my driver side front wheel bearing is going out on me. I have the grinding noise up to about 40 mph, steering pull to the driver side, and no popping while turning the wheel. The Haynes says to remove the steering knuckle and take it to a shop to have the hub changed out with a press. Is this correct? What is an average cost to have the hub swapped out at a shop?

first diagnose the problem because that doesnt sound like a wheel bearing.
there shuold be a grinding sound at all MPHs and a louder ear piercing one when you turn.

jack up the car and wiggle the wheel with hands at 12 and 6 o clock. if it moves your wheel bearing is bad.

FOR SURE go to a machine shop to press out and press in the bearing. It should cost around $40 in and out.

DIY backyard replacement style sucks. i broke a wheel bearing that way in 3 months after pressing them in myself

The grinding noise is very quiet right now. It will almost go away when turning left at speed. Turning right at speed does make it louder. The noise does go almost silent at higher speeds, but the pull is still there. I mentioned the lack of a popping noise while turning because that helped me decide it was not the cv axle that was going bad. I inspected the boots and found them all perfect.

I will take it in to be pressed. Thanks!
