Check oil light

For the past two weeks or so my check oil light has been coming on for some reason, at first i thought i needed to change my oil since its been 3 months or so since i last did. so i changed my oil and filter and it still comes on at first it would stay on for 10-20 minutes at a time, then it started to clicker on and off, and now it slowly fades from on to off to on..... So does any one know how i can fix the problem? and why this is happening?

probably low oil pressure. I wouldn't drive it until you have it looked at

The oil light is a oil pressure light which means low oil pressure, when the light comes on you are low on oil or the oil pressure is low due to something else. Is it burning or leaking oil, where is the oil level? If not burning it or leaking then it could be a bad oil pump or the oil pick up screen could be clogged.

well between the two dots the oil line is at about 3/4 from the bottom mark to the top

Ok so if its not leaking or anything it could be bad oil pump or the screen could be clogged.

do you know how much it would cost to have that checked or how much the parts would be?

Have no idea how much it would cost from a mechanic, but the oil pump off of acura website is a little over 100$. The oil pick up screen is located right below the crank. You can take off the oil pan and see it just hanging there. When you take off the oil pan you will need another gasket and everything for it but you can take that off and look up in the screen and see if its clogged. If that screen isn't clogged then its the oil pump but its probably the oil pump. How many miles is on your car.

how difficult is it to change the oil pump yourself? i know how to change the transmission filter on transmissions, it is as easy as that or harder?

The oil pump isn't to hard but can be time consuming. How to change oil pump.

Disconnect negative battery cable
Raise front of car off the ground supported well
Drain oil
Remove driverside wheel
Align the the crank to TDC cylinder 1, the mark on the crank pully mark should line up with the timing cover mark.
Remove all necessary drive belts and also remove crank pulley will need impact gun. (Do not loose the pin)
Remove valve cover and timing belt cover
Remove timing belt tensioner
Remove timing belt
Remove timing belt drive pully
Remove oil pan and screen
Remove oil pump bolts and remove oil pump(oil will go everywhere)

After that install every in reverse order. You will need another oil pan gasket, rtv gasket maker for the oil pump, will probably want to change the timing belt, tensioner and water pump unless they were changed not to long ago. Just make sure when putting it back together that the timing is right.

Did you check the oil level when the light started to come on? or at all atleast before changing the oil? Im going to go out on a limb and say go buy a mechanical guage and hook it up to verify the low pressure. Could be somthing as stupid as a bad sensor and might as well verify before performing shotgun maintence and throwing parts at it.

what should the oil preasure PSI be at? By the way its B18A1 engine.

Oil pressure should be I think 10 psi at idle and 50 psi at 3000 rpms. You might also just need a oil pressure switch, who knows really there is actually a lot of things that can add up to be low oil pressure.
