unless there's going to be changes to the rep system to prevent folks from abusing it... then IMO, remove it.

mainly limit the amount of pos/neg rep & include the user name in the feedback.
It has a limit. If you hand out so much negative or positive rep in 24 hours, it will stop you. If you are a premium member you can see everybody who gave you negative or positive rep.

thats right.
well i voted that i dont care, although i DO care, honestly i think it should be removed just because im tired of having people complaining about it ALL the time.

IMO it isnt even important, just as i never saw any of the "trolling" as an important issue that needed to be addressed. but i am getting tired of seeing these threads where everyone is just arguing with everyone, lets just get this over with and get rid of it so we can move on and focus on progressing the site in the right direction.

Perhaps there have been more troll threads recently, but saying that people are trolling specifically to get rep or that someone is or isn't doing something because of rep- well that's just ridiculous.
but a lot of this has been happening recently. I agree with BrokenTalon27. the rep system is being abused, its being used for popularity and the way people have been getting popular recently is by trolling and flame threads. when i say the rep system caused this site to go downhill i mean the rep system promoted the activity and disrespect that caused the site to go downhill. i think a rep system would be great if it was not abused (maybe if the mods or some rep mods could adjust the rep on a user based on the description given for the rep. rep without a legit reason and description of why the user earned it could be taken away)

and why are you guys so upset about people posting the repetitive threads? if someone posts a repetitive thread let them do so, and just because they post it doesnt mean that you need to reply to it.

on the other hand, i think it is annoying to see a bunch of exhaust threads that ask the same question and i think there should be a post requirement before someone can start a thread, i think we had one but the newbies ended up thread jacking everything so it was taken down. maybe a temporary ban for thread jacking. or maybe the mods could start deleting a lot of these repetitive threads, BUT i do not think this is a reason why this site is going downhill

It would be nice if threads had approval before they were even created, that way, it would be a nice filter for those pointless threads.

The types of threads im referring to are the threads like

"How Do I know I have Vtec?" "I cant hear my vtec, whats wrong?" "How many psi can I push?"

Versus threads like "What size restrictor should I use for a .4an turbo feed line on X turbo?" or "What gap should I set my piston rings to?" or things along those lines.

Topics that produce discussion that help this forum move forward instead of all of us having to reinvent the wheel.

This is getting ridiculous, some of you expect way too much from an Internet forum. Chill out, enjoy the topics YOU want to participate in and ignore the rest. Just like how some people ignore the electrical section, or the na section, etc. You ignore a thread that YOU find to be useless. Do realize that while a large majority of you may not want to answer a dumb thread, someone else might. Everyone needs to stop worrying about other members and just deal with yourself. This is the reason we have moderators. This will be inforced!

Keep It Clean
i like the rep system. if it was used properly than it should stay. repping for being popular is stupid. most of my rep is for helping or giving others ideas and other stuff. yes some rep it positive because of clowning around, but like i said, if its true positive rep for helping in anyway...keep it. i look at low rep and i see either a troll or an ultra learning noob. being a nood isnt bad, but it lets the poeple know who to reach out to.

when i was new the rep wasnt working but if it was, i wouldnt get reppd at all..just by learning and spreading the word on tips and tricks edvice ect, i got reppd. soon enough eveyone on here who reads and spreads good info will have alot of true positive rep for helping.

if this site turned into another team integra, alot of integra noobs would be lost. noobs come here and comfortable for asking a stupid question.. shit, i asked some pretty stupid shit that would hae gotten me anal probed on ti. no probe, keep the rep, direct noobs to other threads. ive gotten flamed to hell on here, but thats because those people were/are from team integra.

This is what everyone should do if you want a forum thats simply for chit chatting vs. progressing.

Things that should be enforced on a proper forum are posts and information. Alot of people hate team-integra, but that site has some of the most intelligent people posting, awesome build threads, and loads of information.

The problem with what Aussie is saying is what ive stated, you stop progressing as a forum when you look the other way, instead of addressing issues, but this all has to do with your goal for a forum.

If I were to simply enjoy my topics that would be tough as well. Since the forced induction forum is being lit up with idiotic threads.

Once again, just my opinion.

No one is holding back progress. No one is stopping the progression of useful threads, what you would be doing is not helping what you consider worthless threads, to progress. And on top of that you would be saving the time you guys spend bashing each other, to be used for more "progressive" purposes.

I think everyone asking for things to be approved is ridiculous. Who wants to sit on a forum for hours and approve every new thread or rep added to someone? We're all big kids, we don't need that. The second everything has to be approved- is the second I will be out of here. I joined Team-Integra first, why am I here? Because I don't like that shit. I hate waiting for my post to be approved before getting an answer. If you want this forum to be like Team-Integra, you should just GO to Team-Integra.

I agree, i'm tired of all the complaining, because it makes me complain, and I don't like complaining. (Lol?)

The only way the rep system could negatively effect the site is if someone ACTUALLY cared about the popularity. I know for a fact that most of the major members who troll, do not do it for rep- they do it to do it.

No Merlin, we don't have to reply. But you can't argue against someone on a topic and then agree with them in that same reply. Alex and I get tired of answering the same old forced induction questions, but SOMEBODY HAS TO DO IT. If everybody just stopped replying to posts because it was asked in the past, how often do you think new members would post- or how often do you think there would be multiple threads that are repeatedly posted over and over because they aren't getting an answer. We all have seen people bump a thread to get a reply, we all have seen someone post in two or three different sections.

If we stopped answering the new guys questions, what would it help? Honestly, I would be perfectly happy if when you joined you got a message outlining how to search or how to post a thread. We can avoid the "How do I make my LS more fast." threads or the "What exhaust?" threads. They all end the same way.

If the new guys don't search, then the older guys are forced to search for them.

At this point i'm not even sure what i'm trying to argue here, i'm going in circles with myself, lol.

nothing from nowhere
i won't go into the issues i have with the site, but i will speak what iv'e seen on here. just as iv'e seen on other forums, the rep gets abused and next thing we know people are writing and answering questions just for rep with no intentions of offering help. rep is great, but maybe on a forum where it's members are older and understand more. there is too much talk in the tech sections, then the bashing and criticism is uncalled for.thats theres a reason i dont ask questions on here or post progress on my car.true, i am tired of 'what exhaust should i get ' questions but this is the group of people the forum caters too, like it or not, it is what it is. so many people say they go to TI for tech stuff, why cant it be like that here? theres only a handfull of members that contribute to the site anymore, and i commend them. i know you guys love it and want it to be a great place to come to for help. i'm sorry, i learned everything myself, before internet and forums and purposely stayed away from them for along time. i joined here realizing i could help others, maybe share my knowledge, but seeing people get mad and flame others for what they like and are proud of is just not right in my book. here's my rep 'if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all!'

ah thanks for the info

f*** it remove it. i can already see the drama from this. if you're frequent on the forum, you'll know how to sort through the garbage.

whether you're a new user or watnot, if folks really need help on the forums, put in some real time/work and learn how to search and read. the old fashioned way. or better yet, shoot a PM or EMAIL. i'm pretty sure there's lots of threads on C-I, even a lounge, if not... its on the www.

Built_LS, the point being made is that new guys need to learn to search before asking. I don't know how we are getting so far off topic from rep lol.

For example, common questions revolve around exhausts
Now run a search for "Exhaust" and "Titles Only."
Showing results 1 to 20 of 244.

Pretty much pulls up any thread that has "Exhaust" in the title, that goes from reviews, questions, rattles, ect. If you have a specific issue, be specific! That's my issue, people need to learn to search. I should probably just stop posting here, because a lot of my arguments are getting away from rep- and I honestly don't care if the rep goes or stays. Not a big deal one way or another.

If the rep goes, people will whine. If the rep stays, people will whine. It happens with every issue that pops up- eventually everyone stops whining.
