What would be a good speaker setup for my 97 Teg? I'm looking for a set that wouldnt require me to do any special fitting like using mdf to get them to fit. I'm open to any suggestons so let me know what you think.

Thanks alot

well imo any component speaker should be hooked up to a amp.. powers the speaker better! a descent cheap set up would be type s. the type r are more base but the s imo have high end...what you should do is goto car audio place and look at component speakers, see which you like best.. whats you budget too?

Infinity Reference 6030cs are really good. Also Polk makes some good ones;JL Audio as well. Just look on crutchfield.com. Those were what I was looking at.

what slickwhiteteg said. i have 4 Sony Xplod's, 6.5 in the doors, and 6x9 on the rear deck (i have a 4 door). and i have a 400 W, 2 Channel amp that powers the 6x9. without the amp they sounded good, but with the amp makes a world of difference.

focal by far are best components IMO but they cost $600.. well worth it if i had spare cash, Infinity Reference are great speakers, love their tweeter, infact if my S go out again im buying infinity Reference or im going all out with focal :p

Focal has some GREAT speakers. But they are expensive. But make sure you juice the speakers; it makes a huge difference.

type r alpines hooked up to their mini amplifier they have that just more or less doubles the power of the stereo. If you run em this way they really have a great sound and its not to overly expensive.

Real Good!
def get an amp for them, they will sound much louder. thats if u have an aftermarket deck already, because it will be much easier to wire everything up. if u plan on keeping or have stock deck then just replace the speakers and see how that sounds IMO it will prob be an improvement but not much

a nice decent amp with everything you need will prob run you in the $150 mark after shipping/wiring

components wise, if ur looking to spend $$$ since u didnt give a budget like mentioned Focal's are a good option, so is Hertz
if u wanna stay with in reason, alpines, infinities, powerbass, polk, rockford fosgate
here is the site to get stuff from, usually pretty cheap and is where i get my stuff from

I'm running all type r speakers. Components up front and coaxial in the back hooked to a rockford fosgate amp rated for 986 amps peak. And two alpine type r 12s hooked up to a phoenix gold amp rated at 1000 watts. I've never had box problems and I've been running type r for almost 6 years. Plan on replacing my coaxial rears for a component set. They are affordable and have amazing round quality and output.

nice set up, keepin it all Alpine. i like that, only 1krms? need alittle more to bring them to life!
type R's are the best bang for your buck as far as main stream subs, i almost got 4-12s for my jimmy but went another route, im sure i would of been happy with them either way.

EDIT: meant 1krms*

My subs max out at 1500 so I'm barely meeting rms. Trying to find two matching 1k mono amps right now. They have been superb.

Well after looking around I think I'm gonna go with the alpine type s componet system. I was just wondering how big of an amp I would need to use to get decent sound.

well depending on what you want your amp to do.. 2 channel or 4 channel amp.. here's choices

1) make your amp run your component speakers only and your aftermarket deck run the rear speakers

2) let your amp run both component /aftermarket speakers.. that will need a 4 channel amp if you dont know.

I am running type s right now as mention above and i am running 350watt amp to my component speakers and my aftermarket headunti(alpine btw) is running my rear speakers, than I have jl audio 1000watt amp to run my jl 10w3 sub.. its a nice set up, sub/ was most expensive out of my set up. 350 watt would do the trick, any other questions? feel free to ask, cause I have the set up your going with.

Edit: should also mention rear speakers are way over rated in our cars! you wont hear them at all, unless you use the back seat alot and want your friends or whoever to hear music..
