I think we are all missing the point here...The original Poster has a DA Integra and lives in the state of California and wants to know if it's Legal to have HID....The DA does not have stock projetor heads so i don't understand why people are giving tips for that...Plus i would like to know if it is worth getting HID for my DA or will the Cops hassel me if i get them? i have the stock OEM housing....does that matter or should i get the aftermarket 1 piece housing for better lighting control?

I go to bars with police officers every weekend and heres the real scoop at what you should worry about.

Everything that wasn't on you're car before and you're putting on now (tints, custom front plate, plate covers, hids, black outs, radar, anything of that sort.) There are just few things they look for before they even consider pulling you over. 1) how old you look if you look like a teenage brat you will get pulled over everytime if you have anything different on you're car because you're a liability anyway 2) You're going to get pulled over if you are doing a traffic violation and if you have any vehicle violation you're most likely going to get a ticket for that too unless the cop is not a dick 3) You're going to get pulled over if you are suspicious(driving too slow or something like that)

So if you are a punk and don't wanna be pulled over do not put anything on you're car that isn't suppose to be there

If you do illegal things in you car regularly like speeding, blowing stop signs, and stuff do not put illegal stuff on your car

If you are just an idiot and make yourself want to be pulled over by cops then you just deserve to get every ticket you can get.

I would fight this ticket. Take pictures of your lights at night and see how high they point up. Show that it does not blind oncoming traffic and you'll end up winning. Laws are to protect the public so use them, screw the bored cops.

Well a friend of mine gave me a set of HID head lamp kits for my car. The light kit is the kind that replaces the stock bulbs with a Xenon arch lamp, ballast and ignitor. The color is 6000k white/blue. The kit was a Xmas present and was purchased from carhidkits site, so I do not want to offend my friend by never trying them, but at the same time I do not want to blind others on the road or get a FAT TICKET. What are the penalties if it is not legal? Heck, what is the legality of these light kits? I live in CA if that has any bearing.
Thank you for that link.
Now I can get a set of HID headlights too!

Detman - you should go to DDMTuning.com for HIDs. They are cheaper and a good quality product. I recently have gotten some from them and have had many friends order from them. They are 39.99 for older style ballast and 49.99 for the slim ballast. Also remember you need the 9006 bulb for integra low beams.

Kewl! I will check them out.

Looks like everyone is missing the point here. I didn't read all the posts, so I may have missed it, but this is in the SECOND GEN forum,
which means he has reflector housings, not projector. Its like driving with you highbeams on ALL the time.
Please do not do this.
Wait...so this will give everyone else that blinding light in their rear views all the time?
I hate that when I'm driving down the highway and it's like the fancy car behind me has their high-beams on!!

Would it be possible to aim them lower towards the ground and maybe paint the sides of the housing so that they don't shine light all over the sides too far?

Thank you.

I have the Halo Headlight housing with a more distinct cut-off line than OEM headlight housings and don't have any issues with my HIDs. I've also angled the headlights down a little bit more than stock settings. When I am behind a car my headlights don't go any higher than their trunk. I just parked by a garage and adjusted the level of the headlights down about 2 inches from where they used to be.

Awesome! so angling down more does work!!
I will buy some then.

Another question, when I buy some one-piece headlights, the HID kit should swap right over to it, correct?

It should be as simple as unplugging my bulbs (carefully..no touching glass), removing stock headlight assemblies(regular and fogs), then installing the new one-piece headlight housing, then plugging in my bulbs.

Correct?

Thank you!
