Cam Questions/Suggestions

Okay, as many of you know, I was replacing the head on my recently valve jobbed GSR today. Unfortunately we couldn't break the pulley so we need the special tool, so it's waiting until Wednesday. My cam lobes felt a little rough, when you run your fingernail over 1-2 of the lobes you can feel it scratch a bit. Almost as if it was run without oil. I think they're okay to run, but am looking to replace them. I want to keep this as close to stock as possible, all I have is a 4-2-1 header, and an exhaust is on the way, but what cams would be best for a replacement? Do stage 1 need a new intake mani/TB? I just want something I can stick in and be good to go with and not need a bunch of parts as well. I can't source cams locally, since there are no GSR ones on CL around here. Thanks!

Then I'll need an upgraded intake mani and a tune, which is money I dont wanna put into it right now

untrue. the skunk2 tuner 1 is a complete drop in cam. it makes power without changing the tune, thats why the cam is a CARB approved camshaft.

I really dont think its a good idea to be dropping in cams and running it untuned, even if its advertised as such.

You would have to imagine that if its a drop in and doesnt need a tune that its not that much different than an oem cam which would seem to be a little waste of money especially if youre paying 600+ dollars for one.

Could always pick up some ITR's for around $300 bucks and pick up decent HP. I might be selling mine, I will let you know in a week or so.

I am debating on going Pro 1's, I had a set over the spring and re-sold them (shouldve held on to em cause I picked em up crackhead cheap)

We sell them new and they're not cheap haha. If I had the cash I'd boost. But since I don't, I keep it at ihe so I can buy my bike. That's why I dont really want to go stage 2 etc because it's money I just don't want in this car.

Mitch, this is what i was saying when we were texting. Anything additional you do with stage 1 cams is gonna increase the benefits of running the cams, but isn't necessary. But, I think most of us have cams laying around, lol...
