But about launching on an auto...you say it hurts your transmission? Are you thinking of revving in neutral and then slamming into drive? Because what I had in mind was hold down brake, give it some gas to rev it up, let up on the brakes, go, and then in a little give it some gas. I don't think my way hurts the transmission...

Yes, don't do that. And the way you're talking about ruins your brakes AND your motor. In reality, it's fastest just to go from brake to gas, no revving or anything. I've played with it.
